Shoreham power station is a 400 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power station which was constructed during 1999 and began commercial operation in the summer of 2000. The station uses a Gas Turbine along with a Steam Turbine to power a 500MVA generator to provide a highly efficient form of thermal electricity generation. The station is located on the Sussex coast approximately four miles to the west of Brighton & Hove, on the edge of the South Downs National Park.

Description

The main role of the Mechanical Technician is to maintain plant equipment that is currently installed and operational within Shoreham Power Station. You will assist the UK Thermal Engineering group on projects to improve reliability, flexibility and replacement of assets. You will develop and support, short, medium and long term strategies. You will also develop, plan and undertake works inclusive of Management, Control and Supervision of Contractors, including development of work specifications as required. Your tasks will include:

  • Ensure consistent high levels of House-keeping and Safety

  • Support the Workshop and Engineering Governance Programme

  • Prepare and manage required contracts in support of the UK Thermal Region Stations.

  • Deliver Service and Maintenance Best Practice across all stations.

  • Ensure all Station issues are progressed effectively

  • Provide support to the UK Thermal Engineering, Production and Business Service teams in the UK Thermal Group

  • Provide supervision of designated people during plant overhauls

  • Assist in the implementation of the Workshop strategy in line with the business plan.

  • Proactive and creative approach to fault diagnosis and problem solving

  • Ensure maintenance plans and targets for the team are achieved safely, on time, at or below budget, to the correct quality and within the environmental limits of the station

  • Support and deliver the Process Safety KPI’s associated with areas of responsibility

Requirements

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in Mechanical Maintenance of large generating plants (CCGT or generating plant desirable).

  • Educated to ONC/HNC standard or equivalent qualifications/experience.

  • Knowledge of health & safety, environment and employment law legislation.

  • Knowledge of budgets and contract management.

  • IOSH Entry Level Qualification to Managing Safely.

MINIMUM CRITERIA

  • Experience in Mechanical Maintenance of large generating plants (preferably CCGT or generating plant).

  • Educated to ONC/HNC standard or equivalent qualifications/experience.

  • Computer literacy.

  • Understanding of financial, procurement and contractual processes.

  • Valid Driving Licence.

  • Salary from £33600 per annum

  • Bonus: Up to 10%

  • South East Allowance, £2000 per annum
