JOB SUMMARY:

Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:

The position Manager – Community Outreach and Development is responsible for community outreach and relationship development with local elected and municipal officials, government agencies, community organizations and business groups. Develops and executes strategic outreach plans on company projects and initiatives and monitors local governments for issues that may impact the company. Reports to Director – Public Affairs. Position includes management of outreach for NYSEG’s Brewster Division, with assistance provided in the Liberty Division as needed.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

  1. Manages outreach function and develops and maintains relationships with key elected and municipal officials, business groups, community organizations, emergency responders and government agencies. This includes outreach on company issues, projects and initiatives, and emergency/storm response. (40Primary)%)

  2. Participates in a leadership role in key business, charitable, civic and economic development organizations. (15Primary)%)

  3. Identifies community issues for management that may affect the company favorably or unfavorably. Coordinates and delivers appropriate responses to those issues. (15Primary)%)

  4. Assists with administering and evaluating regional sponsorship and contribution requests. (10Secondary)%)

  5. Coordinates the company’s involvement at sponsored events. (5Secondary)%)

  6. Supports the company’s economic development efforts. (10Secondary)%)

  7. Assists in the preparation and maintenance of government, community and business databases to facilitate prompt, efficient and effective communications to advance the interests and reputation of the company. (5Secondary)%)

Financial Responsibility: there are no expectations of outreach managers planning or managing the department budget, however there will be some aspects of managing up to $16,000 in local corporate contributions.

Requirements

Education & Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree in business, public relations, communications or related field and 6 years’ experience in


customer service, operations, public affairs, government affairs or communications or high school graduate or equivalent and at least 10 years’ experience
