Job Description:

This position is Remote. Candidates will be considered based on their qualifications and the candidate’s ability to work from an approved work location. Although the location is flexible, AEP does not have a presence in all states and localities. The following locations are NOT currently approved for this position: AK, CO, CT, DE, HI, IA, ID, KS, MA, ME, MS, ND, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OR, RI, SD, UT, VT, WY, US Territories, or international work locations. AEP will consider qualified candidates who are willing to relocate to an approved work location, at the candidate’s expense, provided the relocation can be completed within a timeframe that meets AEP’s staffing needs.

Part of a larger team delivering high quality Computer, Network, Storage and End-User Infrastructure technology solutions, on-going support to the business. Independently completes infrastructure project assignments. Plan, research, evaluate, design, and engineer the enterprise's technology infrastructure. Provide technical support and troubleshooting, cost estimates, justifications, and recommendations. Produces technical documentation, support, and configuration. Manage, plan, and maintain technical platforms including upgrading systems. Monitor system performance and installs and configures hardware.

Responsible for collaborating with other Job Families such as Project Managers, Architects, Solution Engineers, Technicians, Business Analysts to deliver consistent, reliable technology solutions that leverage AEP's technology standards, architectures, and best practices.

Essential Job Functions are listed below:

Working independently, responsibilities include the following related to Computer, Network, Storage, Cloud and End-User infrastructure:

  • Participates in all aspects of Microsoft 365 management, engineering and support focusing on the Office Suite, MS Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and OneDrive

  • Troubleshoots complex technical issues with M365 often affecting large groups of users

  • Assists Executives with technology needs ranging from Teams use to conference calling and Live meetings

  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide 24x7 support

  • Perform infrastructure project assignments.

  • Plan, research, evaluate and design infrastructure solutions.

  • Provide a high level of technical support and analysis, operation, administration, and troubleshooting activities.

  • Adhere to AEP’s approval processes as part of change management, incident management and trouble response scenarios.

  • Prepare cost estimates, justifications, application requirements, alternative solutions, and technical recommendations.

  • Prepare technical documentation including procedures, manuals, and reports.

  • Review and adhere to budgeting and approval processes while assisting with annual and project planning.

  • May provide training and mentoring, as well as work direction, to others on the team.

Infrastructure Engineer Senior


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.


  • 5 years of relevant work experience is required.

An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Infrastructure Engineer Principal:


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required.


  • 7 years of relevant work experience is required.

An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Other Requirements:

  • Adhere to policies, procedures, standards, codes, and regulations relevant to assignments.

  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of AEP infrastructure, environment, components, and facilities to enable more efficient and comprehensive responses to projects and problems.

  • Exhibit and apply proficiency in analysis, design, problem solving, troubleshooting, resolution, communication, and customer service skills.

Physical demand level is Sedentary

Preferred Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 4-year degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Networking, or equivalent experience.

  • 3 plus years of experience supporting Microsoft 365, conferencing technology and software deployments

  • Experience in an engineering role with Microsoft 365 in a large organization

  • Current or previous experience with desktop engineering and software deployments

  • Technical and functional knowledge of MS Teams for collaboration and conferencing

  • Experience deploying conference room technology

  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to less technical individuals and upper management
