Summary:

Apply electrical and mechanical theory and practical skills related knowledge to supervise, install and test High Voltage Cable systems. Must be able to work without direct supervision at remote sites.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Follow all applicable safety and environmental rules and regulations.

• Construction oversight of civil and electrical contractors in the performance of these contractors’ duties on specific projects. Coordinate with HV Project Manager and Engineering concerning activities in the field.

• Installation of High Voltage Cable by pulling cables in conduits or laying cables in open trenches while maintaining the quality sensitive criteria that are required for high voltage cables.

• Securing cables at manholes and termination structures utilizing clamping devices while maintaining proper spacing, dimensions and orientation of the cables in respect to the cable accessories

• Properly preparing cables for accessory installation and installing cable terminations, and splices in as specified location and following the specific installation instructions for the accessory type.

• Perform after laying and commissioning tests on high voltage cable systems.

• Technical supervision of customer’s technicians in installing cables and cable accessories.

• Receiving, inspection, packaging and shipping of HV accessories and components.

• Maintain and improve the specific skills required through training internally and by partners/ suppliers.

• Maintenance of cable & accessories installation equipment, tools and facilities.

• Participate with HV engineering and projects group in preparing work plans, procedures and work schedules in preparation of and during assignments

Requirements:

Must have or obtain Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or four to six years related experience with the installation of MV or HV cable systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification as an electrical millwright preferred. Must have OHSA 30 hour Safety training and Arc Flash training or complete within 3 months of acquiring the position. Must have or be able to certify to accessory supplier’s requirements within 6 months of acquiring the position. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. May have to work in extreme climates such as high heat, high humidity, and cold weather. This position requires approximately 50% to 75% travel both domestically and internationally.
