About the Role:
LS Power is a leading independent power generation company with a diversified portfolio including oil, gas, wind, renewable natural gas (RNG), and hydro assets. Our Environmental, Health, and Safety Compliance team plays a crucial role in ensuring our operating plants adhere to all environmental regulations and standards and our 3rd party operators maintain a strong safety culture and compliance. We also support due diligence for new acquisitions and provide assistance during the sale of assets. We are seeking an early to mid-level HSE professional with over 5 years of experience to join our HSE Compliance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of safety requirements, proficiency in root cause analysis or other investigative methods for safety incidents or near misses, experience auditing safety programs, and will have some experience with environmental compliance. Experience working in an operating plant or manufacturing environment is ideal. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, good technical reading skills, solid math skills for evaluating air and water emissions, and proficiency in writing and spreadsheet management.
Responsibilities
What you will do:
Oversee and ensure a strong safety culture for all of LS Power's operating assets.
Oversee the plant environmental compliance person at a few power plants.
Assist with due diligence for new acquisitions and provide support for divestitures.
Review and interpret contracts, permits, safety and environmental regulations.
Evaluate air and water emissions and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
Maintain detailed records and manage fleet safety metrics.
File plant environmental compliance documentation at the corporate level.
Travel periodically to various operating plants and due diligence sites.
Qualifications

Have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or Environmental Science.
Have over 5 years of experience in HSE compliance, preferably within an operating plant environment.
Demonstrate a strong knowledge of major safety legislation and regulations.
Possess excellent technical reading skills for reviewing contracts, permits, and regulations.
Have solid math skills for evaluating air and water emissions.
Are detail-oriented with strong organizational, writing, and spreadsheet skills.
Have a willingness to travel periodically.
