Iberdrola USA GEN - Mechanical Craft Operator in United States
At ScottishPower we know that our people are our strongest asset, so we’re always looking for individuals whose energy, intelligence and passion can help us reach our goals.
At the heart of all business visions and activities are the people whose individual efforts and performance make it happen. We encourage our people to be proud of where they work, to share their ideas and to own their careers. We promote a safe working environment and push people to shape and progress their careers so that we grow our talent within the company.
We’re able to continue our recruitment drive because the demand for energy keeps growing. As well as this, our investment in our network and continual search for innovative ways to generate and distribute energy means we can offer a wide range of exciting careers in a stable industry.
Our Generation business ensures we have enough power to continue delivering the energy needed. We deliver competitive energy from across our generation portfolio of coal, hydro, gas and biomass generation, while minimising the environmental impact.
Generation is organised around its physical assets. These include gas and, as a company with an acute sense of the bigger picture, other forward thinking ways of providing power such as hydro-electric power stations, CCGT power stations and our Daldowie sludge processing plant near Glasgow, which manufactures fuel pellets from sewage sludge.
Lanark Hydro – Electric Scheme
A vacancy has arisen for a Mechanical Craft Operator at Stonebyres Power Station, which is part of the Lanark Hydro- Electric Scheme.
The Lanark Hydro-Electric Scheme, on the banks of the River Clyde in Lanarkshire, dates back to 1926 and is believed to be the oldest hydro-electric plant in the UK electricity industry. Although the output is relatively small, the scheme has proven to be a reliable, flexible generator of clean, renewable electricity and a valuable asset in ScottishPower’s generating portfolio.
The scheme harnesses the power of three spectacular waterfalls, collectively known as the Falls of Clyde, nearLanark. The scheme has two stations, Bonnington (11 MW) and Stonebyres (6 MW), which were developed by the Clyde Valley Electrical Power Company to meet demand for electricity in Lanarkshire after the First World War. Together, the stations can generate 17 MW – enough electricity to supply approximately 17,000 homes.
