Position Overview:

As the leader in the fleet team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective acquisition and operational strategies tailored for each fleet and equipment category.

Fleet Strategy Director will be responsible for optimizing total cost of ownership for 30,000+ assets in the field while ensuring availability and reliability of these assets. You will work closely with Corporate and Business Unit leadership teams as well as the fleet and operations teams in the business units. This position will report to the Vice President of Fleet.

Essential Functions:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and own an effective fleet category strategy for all asset classes that minimizes TCO

  • Acquisition strategy: Buy vs lease vs rent

  • Operations & maintenance strategy

  • Optimal useful life & disposal strategy

  • Translate business plans and financial forecast in to demand for fleet & equipment usage requirements

  • Develop a fleet & equipment capacity model and analyze how demand can be satisfied for various business scenarios

  • Develop and implement Fleet ESG strategy which supports the overall ESG goals set by Artera

  • Manage the roll out of telematics and camera devices for business units and develop a governance process to ensure long term adoption and success

  • Manage partner selection and relationship with Fleet Management Companies and ensure they are leveraged effectively

  • Develop an R&M strategy that improves reliability and availability of the assets while lowering total cost of ownership for the businesses

  • Support multiple initiatives that are new to the organization or improve existing processes and systems that enable effective, efficient fleet operations

  • Promote safety awareness by consistently presenting a professional attitude through building positive relationships within the business units, courtesy, and a general concern for safety rules


  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment

  • Experience in analyzing complex data and creating advanced analytical solutions to business problems

  • Excel in building and developing relationships, overseeing complex programs and demonstrating leadership

  • Demonstrated capability working in a multi-function team environment and ability to drive transformational change

  • Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration or other STEM field of study (MBA Preferred)

  • 7-10 years of fleet management and operations experience required

  • Experience in managing a fleet of construction and industrial equipment highly desired

  • Knowledge and experience in implementing fleet & equipment best practices

  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in Microsoft suite and other advances analytics software (Tableau, PowerBI a plus)

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

    Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires travel of up to 25% to multiple Artera and supplier locations
