Energy Analyst, Senior / Consultant - The position supports the Marketing and Trading and Resource Management organizations. Our team is responsible for settling trading activities, regulatory programs, the purchase of natural gas, coal, and oil, and renewable and clean energy contracts. Joining the Energy Settlements team be responsible for protecting APS’s financial health by ensuring settlement activities are conducted under the necessary control objectives. The Energy Settlements team ensures that fuel and trading settlement functions are timely and accurate, support effective and efficient processing, and support a sound control structure. * Energy Analyst, Senior / Consultant__ * What your day would be like: You are responsible for: * Settlement, invoicing, auditing, and the cash management processes related to power, natural gas, coal, solar and other renewable energy trading transactions. * Performs billing and payables processing, supports regulatory reporting, and identifies and resolves transaction discrepancies between APS and counterparties/brokers * Collaborate and interact with many internal teams including Accounting, Trading Desks, Fuels, Power Procurement, Meter Data Management, Regulatory, and IT * Research and troubleshoot any settlements data issues between internal and/or external stakeholders or systems * Lead or participate in identifying and implementing process improvements The kinds of people we want to talk to have done many of the following: * Participate in daily, weekly and monthly settlement of physical and financial trading activities (Accounts Payable/Receivable) * Coordinate with counter-parties to resolve invoice reconciliation discrepancies proactively and timely * Assist with generation of invoicing statements and cash forecasting, communicating progress with involved internal groups including the accounting team * Understand contract details, fees, rates, and payment schedules to ensure all items for payment are captured in a timely manner * Identify, recommend and implement process improvements around settlement and accounting processes * Outstanding analytical skills to properly assess errors and variances to reconcile data * Ability to identify and define problems, gather data, and present proposed solutions * Lead system upgrades and/or implementations * _Minimum Requirements Energy Analyst, Senior_ * _ BS degree in Business, Accounting* orFinance *and three (3) years’ experience in accounting reconciliation, energy billing, or financial reporting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. _ * _Knowledge of the applied use of energyaccounting processes, related auditing techniques, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. _ * _Some positions may require experience working with the administration of energy contracts and the development, implementation and maintenance of financial reports and spreadsheets._ * _A thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word. _ * _Some positions may require a general understanding of commodity trading, Risk Management, and options valuation as it relates to energy markets, resource generation and transmission system concepts._ Minimum Requirements Energy Analyst Consultant * _BS degree in Business, Accounting or Finance and five (5) years’ experience in accounting reconciliation, energy billing, or financial reporting and analysis;_ * _current experience in utility operations related to generation modeling, deregulated retail, and trading; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. _ * _Knowledge of the applied use of energy accounting processes, related auditing techniques, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles._ * _General knowledge of Risk Management, trading terminology and activities, energy market dynamics, and energy products._ * _Knowledge of the valuation and risk management of futures, options and other derivatives, and a thorough understanding of commodity trading and options valuation as it relates to energy markets, resource generation and transmission system concepts required._ * _Some experience working with the administration of energy contracts and the development, implementation and maintenance of financial reports and spreadsheets._ * _A thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word._ ## Export Compliance/EEO This position may require access to and/or use of information subject to control under the Department of Energy's Part 810 Regulations (10 CFR Part 810), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) (15 CFR Parts 730 through 774), or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR Chapter I, Subchapter M Part 120) (collectively, "U.S. Export Control Laws").
