BWXT is currently seeking an Electronics Technician for its Lynchburg, VA location!

The Electronics Technician is responsible for the installation and performance of less complex maintenance on stand-alone computer systems, electronic and elector-mechanical instrumentation, and microprocessor based systems.

Job Description/Duties:

  • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance.

  • Supports engineers in the evaluation of systems and on developmental projects.

  • Assists in drafting functional specifications and acceptance test criteria for new instrumentation and systems.

  • Serves as a member of acceptance test team as required.

  • Assists in drafting preventative maintenance instructions and check lists for equipment.

  • Performs alignment procedures per specifications and instructions.

  • Performs calibrations according to manufacturer and local established calibration specifications and instructions.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A minimum of an Associate’s degree in Electronics Technology OR a high school diploma plus four (4) years of relevant experience and a formal Electronics training program is required.

  • Must be familiar with CNC/PLC controls (emphasis on Fanuc and A/B; Siemens preferred).

  • Must have a working knowledge of shop floor equipment (NC machining centers, Lathes/Mills; and Welding equipment) and the relationship with associated support equipment.

  • Familiarity with Security inspection equipment and/or Security Control systems is preferred.

  • Must be able to effectively work with hourly and supervisory personnel in the pursuit of technical information and problem solving.

  • Must possess a technical curiosity which motives the study and understanding of new developments.

  • Must possess the ability to understand how various systems/sub-systems supported by maintenance relate to their respective functions and the ability to apply theory to practical application.

  • Must demonstrate an understanding of electrical/electronic schematics and their related graphic symbols.

  • Must be able to demonstrate a mechanical aptitude to fabricate and/or assembler electromechanical systems from layout sand schematics supplied by Engineering.

  • Must possess operational knowledge of electronic test equipment.

  • Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

Position requires U.S. citizenship with (no dual citizenship) ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test and previous employment reference verifications.
