Job Summary/Purpose

This position acts in a Lead capacity for a program or system role among peers within a department in a technical discipline, short of a supervisor, but with responsibilities of some level of coordination and/or review and representing more responsibility than that of a Senior Engineer. This position works in conjunction with other engineering disciplines and is responsible for Business unit functions such as jurisdictional reliability, area project management, supporting the development design/ construction standards, and/or engineering design of distribution lines.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct independent engineering work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Devises new approaches to solving problems.

  • Direct and mentor junior staff and oversee the engineering work on multiple projects; to include design package development, planning studies, reliability analysis, engineering standards development, and system operations.

  • Represent Entergy as a technical expert within Department. Represents department in Standards discussions and/or utility practices as the industry evolves.

  • Oversee pre-construction or construction activities of distribution line and substation facilities.

  • Work with subcontractors, packages and equipment manufacturers and interface with clients on technical issues.

  • Review internal and external designs for compliance with company standards, applicable codes, and design practices. Advise and consult with field operations personnel on complex technical matters and customer issues.

  • Develop continuous improvement initiatives to produce cost and schedule adherence.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Chemical, Industrial) from four year accredited institution. Degrees in engineering technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial)

Minimum experience required of the position

10+ years experience in an engineering discipline. (8 yrs. w/ PE, PMP cert., and/or MS)

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

This position acts in a Lead capacity for a program or state role among peers within a department in a technical discipline, short of a supervisor, but with responsibilities of some level of coordination and/or review and representing more responsibility than that of a Senior Engineer. This position works in conjunction with other engineering disciplines and is responsible for Business unit functions such as jurisdictional reliability, area planning, project management, supporting the development design/construction standards, and/or engineering design of distribution lines.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 8 years of progressive experience in operations, engineering, construction, project management with specific experience in utility operations or related field.

  • At least five years’ experience leading people and projects in a project, engineering or construction management with proven track record of customer service excellence by delivering projects on-time and within budget.

  • Previous experience developing and improving processes, procedures and specifications used in design, construction, project management, operations, and maintenance of electrical utility assets.

  • Cross-functional leadership experience preferred.

  • Experience utilizing Maximo.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required of the position

Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be available for 24 hour call out and extended hours as necessary.
