South Jersey Industries Director, Utility Shared Services in United States

Reports To: SVP & President, South Jersey Gas

Supervises: Standards and Compliance, GIS, Training, Records

Moving to Atlantic City Late 2018

Basic Function: Leads shared services organization for multiple utilities under the SJI umbrella for Standards and Compliance, Geographic Information System (GIS), and Records. Leads centralized strategy and efforts for company utility Standards and Compliance. Leads strategy for SJI utility companies’ Geographic Information System (GIS) and Records. Provide strategic oversight and leadership for the development of SJI utility companies’ technical training systems and programs, including Operator Qualification & Safety training.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of eight to ten years of supervisory experience; engineering experience is preferred.

  • Expertise in, or prior strategic oversight of Standards and Compliance, Engineering Records Management, GIS, and Technical Training.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in GIS, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field preferred. Significant work experience can be substituted for a BS degree.

Experience:

  • Knowledge of PC-based applications, e.g. Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, etc., is required.

  • Good communication and people skills are required.

  • Ability to manage multiple functions and effectively manage teams that reside in various locations.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides strategic oversight for all engineering and construction related records.

  • Leads the development of performance metrics to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of GIS data.

  • Ensures reporting capability of geospatial data and maps, and ensures the integrity of databases.

  • Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with Federal and State Codes as well as industry Standards and best practices as related to Standards and Compliance, records management, materials tracking & traceability, training and competency certification.

  • Oversees review and retention of records of engineering and construction projects, specifically to satisfy all regulatory requirements.

  • Ensures Operating Divisions meet regulatory requirements by records management standards and methodology.

  • Ensures oversight of technical and safety training for all SJI company utilities, including ensuring all training is compliant with industry, state and federal laws, regulations and standards.

  • Ensures oversight of compliance operating and maintenance, construction procedures establishment and any updates, and monitor reregulation changes and ensure full compliance, including QA/QC of records and GIS application.

  • Maintains involvement with industry association activities such as AGA, LDC, and NGA. Perform duties inherent in all supervisory, professional and administrative positions.

  • Consistent with all positions in this classification, additional projects, tasks and/or duties beyond what is outlined here may be assigned as required
