Within our Digital department, we host dozens of interns and co-ops annually. Our collegiate co-workers will participate in meaningful work activities related to analysis, assessment, design, collaboration and more! Coaching and feedback are a key part of your co-op experience. You will have the opportunity to work with talented, experienced digital staff while completing your work assignments.
The collegiate program provides students with valuable work experience as well as providing Ameren with a source of highly talented candidates for full time positions.
This opportunity is available for the following timeframes:
January-August 2022 Spring Co-op
May-December 2022 Fall Co-op
May-August 2022 Summer Internship
Current student with at least 60 college credit hours completed. Student must be pursuing a Bachelors or Masters in Business, Accounting, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent business or computer-related field from an accredited college or university required with a GPA of 2.5 or above.

An Intelligrid intern/co-op will:
The Intelligrid team manages the Intelligrid Portfolio, which is Ameren’s programs, projects, and standards to align its telecommunication network with the Grid of the Future. This is responsibility is inclusive of all strategy, architectures, standards, and deployment of a private fiber-optic network and LTE network.
Assist in assessment and design of network equipment, connectivity, and configurations
Analyze opportunities for expansion of the network with GIS systems, by collaborating with co-workers & business partners to select and prioritize work
Support network engineers with implementation of the network in the field
Develop documentation for network standards, analysis, or communication
A Network Engineering and Projects intern/co-op will:
The Network Engineering teams design and build complex enterprise-class communications and network systems to meet the needs of Ameren's business units and customers. The team provides oversight and direction, as well as hands-on design, configuration and implementation of existing, new, and future networking systems and technologies, such as traditional LAN/WAN, WiFi, firewalls, routers, switches, and voice systems, as well as for the operational technologies (OT) networks that connect distribution and transmission substations, generation facilities, and smartgrid infrastructure throughout Ameren's service territory.
Assist in the design and oversee implementation of networking equipment and systems to connect new Ameren facilities, substations, and smartgrid equipment to the network.
Review and document network standards and as-built designs using Word, Visio and other tools.
Collaborate with co-workers and business units to understand the requirements for the networks and voice systems they are using.
Collaborate with project managers and utilize defined project management principles
Research new tools and methods for improved reliability and efficiencies.
Learn and utilize tools such as Service Now, Solarwinds, Cisco Identity Services Engine and Cisco Prime.
