We currently have vacancies for Data Architects based in our dynamic new headquarters in Glasgow City Centre.This role will be the business lead responsible for the proposed design and subsequent successful build, monitoring and testing of the data architecture for the Big Data Insight Infrastructure within the ScottishPower retail business.
The job-holder will work in the Retail Data team to capture the requirements and make recommendations for functional design reference models to ensure that data is provisioned in an efficient, reliable and secure but importantly enduring manner. The recommendations will be in the context of the Analytical Data Model, reflecting the compliance requirements of the General Data Protect Legislation (GDPR), whilst supporting the Senior Data Architect Manager with the monitoring of data loads.
The Data Architect will support the build of new data models, which will be carried out by in-house staff and contractor companies, and complete any required testing of solutions before these are recommended for production.
With the introduction of new technologies (including a new Hadoop Platform), the individual should embrace change and ensure that this development is approached with similar disciplines as they do for the current traditional architecture. A sound understanding of the business key processes will be required, alongside the wide systems business infrastructure. As a result, ScottishPower Retail can stay abreast of the changing market dynamics and take opportunities to enhance our data asset to drive value and customer growth.
We will be looking for someone who has advanced knowledge of Data Migration/ Integration/ Ingest Tools including traditional Ingest into Oracle Exadata Platform including Informatica PowerCenter and SAP BW Extractors, as well as the technologies for ingest into Hadoop. In addition to this, you should have advanced knowledge of Data Warehousing development and Database and Schema design including SAP Business Warehouse, OracleExadata, Unix and SQL.
You should be educated to degree level in a marketing or relevant numeric discipline, with a strong understandingof the Retail Business operations and Residential and SME marketplace its operational complexities and its
commercial value. With your excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills, we will be looking for an analytical individual who is confident in challenging convention based on sound rationale and judgement. This means that someone with proven leadership and influencing skills will be an ideal candidate; able to understand complexity quickly and make recommendations clearly and with confidence.
Due to the nature of the role, you should be able to prioritise work and deliver results whilst managing multiple stakeholders and competing demands within a rapidly changing environment. You will also be able to understand financial models and manage complex spreadsheets with a strong commercial focus on margin optimisation.
The selection method for this role will include a competency-based interview with technical questions and an assessment exercise on the day to assess a requirement and present an overview of how the requirement would be built
This is a permanent full-time position based in Glasgow with a starting salary from £40,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications, plus other company benefits including Stakeholder Pension plan, training and development, generous annual leave and flexible benefits of your choice.
