South Jersey Industries Corrosion Surveyor in United States
Performs annual catholic protection surveys and monitoring of the company’s underground steel facilities and corrosion control devices in accordance with applicable Federal and State regulations.
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent technical training and/or experience.
Good communication and interpersonal skills; self-discipline and the ability to work independently with general supervision.
Technical knowledge of electricity and/or electrochemistry with a basic understanding of Ohm’s Law, AC and DC electrical fundamentals is preferred.
General knowledge of natural gas operations and/or facility maintenance is preferred.
Under general supervision, obtains electrical measurements on the system to determine and verify cathodic protection levels on steel distribution mains, individual service lines and transmission pipeline.
Accurately records all data and reports all irregular and non-compliant conditions.
Perform routine minor and maintenance of cathodic protection test stations and test wires as needed.
Applies a learned familiarity with applicable federal, state and local codes.
Inspects contractors and others work in the installation of corrosion control facilities as directed.
Reads, adjusts and inspects system rectifiers.
Maintains corrosion map plates, records and/or PC database information.
Performs duties inherent in technical positions.
