These include gas and, as a company with an acute sense ofthe bigger picture, other forward thinking ways of providing power such as hydro-electric power stations, CCGT power stations and our Daldowie sludge processing plant near Glasgow, which manufactures fuel pellets from sewage sludge.
Business and Department
Damhead Creek Power Station is an efficient, combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station operated by ScottishPower that is located on the Hoo Peninsula in Kent.
We currently have a vacancy for an ECI Technician at Damhead Creek CCCGT Power Station. The main purpose of the role is To support the E,C&I; Maintenance Team Leader at designated station, in all E,C&I; maintenance related activities at the station. The post holder is required to plan, contract (including the management of contractors) and/or physically carry out E,C&I; maintenance works at designated UK Thermal site, including, including the preparation of method statements and Risk Assessments, as required.
The post-holder will ensure that the plant is operated in a safe and efficient manner, analysing and diagnosing plant-related problems and making sure relevant statutory requirements are complied with e.g. Health & Safety at Work Act and the Environmental Protection Act.
You will be expected to prepare and manage required contracts in support of designated UK Thermal Station and participate in the implementation of the Company Safety Rules as either Competent Person or Authorised Person in order to ensure that safety from the system is achieved. A pro-active and creative approach to fault diagnosis and problem solving should be used, providing support on a 24/7 basis and ensure maintenance plans and targets for the team are achieved safely, on time, at or below budget, to the correct quality and within the environmental limits of the station.
Delivering service and maintenance Best Practice across at designated site, you will support and deliver the Process Safety KPI’s associated with areas of responsibility whilst developing an understanding of the business and station objectives.
If you are suitably experienced in an operations or maintenance role within a process industry (e.g. process plant, CCGT, or generating plant), we are keen to speak with you. Ideally you will be educated to a minimum of ONC/HNC level, in a relevant discipline or equivalent vocational qualifications/experience (e.g. a recognised apprenticeship in a relevant discipline) or a 2:1 Degree in an engineering discipline. You should be able to support other disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, control and instrumentation with work planning and plant diagnostics.
You should be self-motivated, focused on achieving results and keen to develop your skills with a flexible approach and demonstrable team working skills. With your knowledge and experience of the principles of working safely, you will have relevant working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation. You should also be proficient with IT & software packages such as Microsoft Office.
This is a permanent, full-time position based in Damhead Creek (ME3 9TX) with a minimum starting salary between £32400 and £40500 per annum, (plus other benefits including up to 10% bonus), depending on experience and qualifications, and company benefits including Stakeholder Pension plan, training and development, generous annual leave and flexible benefits of your choice.
