All job functions of the Associate Gas Controller position are performed under close supervision of the Gas Controller on duty.This position is responsible for controlling the flow rates of natural gas into the high pressure gas system in order to ensure that adequate customer supplies are maintained. This position utilizes the Gas Control Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, (SCADA), system and manual input to ensure that the system's gas demand requirements are balanced with adequate supplies from available resources. This position is responsible for ensuring that proper system pressures are consistently maintained and optimized at all times to meet operational requirements throughout the high pressure system.

Required Education & Experience

Minimum three years of gas system operations or comparable production operations. Technical knowledge and understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles. Proven experience in providing excellent communications through various media is required. Ability to pass and retain Industry related certification(s) including Operator Qualifications required. Analytical skills required to correctly evaluate relevant data and demonstrate logical decision-making capability and the ability to manage and analyze risks is required for this position. The understanding of weather patterns and the ability to analyze weather forecasts is required. Ability to work rotating shifts coping with minimal change of schedule notice.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to pass and retain Industry related certification(s) including Operator Qualifications required. Analytical skills required to correctly evaluate relevant data and demonstrate logical decision making capability. The ability to manage and analyze risks is a must for this position. The understanding of weather patterns and the ability to analyze weather forecasts is required. Ability to work rotating shifts coping with minimal change of schedule notice. Job Description

Manages, directs and coordinates internal and external supplies so as to balance the high pressure system by the most efficient utilization of pipeline purchases and underground storage supplies.Monitors, controls, records and reports all system flow volumes to ensure that pipeline purchase contractual obligations are met. Completes all internal and external reporting as required.Manages, directs and coordinates planned or unplanned shutdowns of the high pressure gas transmission and distribution systems. Coordinates and communicates operational plans with other functional areas to achieve the safest and most efficient operation of the high pressure system.Recognizes and responds to emergency and abnormal operating conditions on the high pressure gas system in a manner that protects employee and public safety and minimizes any potential detrimental impact to the gas system. Maintains a working knowledge of the Gas Emergency Operating Procedures, and facility locations using electronic GIS and facility record-keeping systems. Creates demand forecasts in an accurate and timely manner. Ensures that all forecasting tools and weather information available are implemented and applied to obtain the most accurate daily gas send out forecasts and anticipated hourly load profiles. Tracks regional weather patterns on a real time and forward basis.Maintains accurate and timely records/logs/reports on various operational issues. Maintains a record log of high pressure valve operations. Monitors gas quality to ensure any issues are reported.Monitors and controls gas odorization equipment to ensure proper odorization at all times of gas supplied to the transmission and distribution systems.Completes and follows all procedures and processes associated with the Control Room Management, (CRM), and requirements.Provides training for less experienced Gas Controllers and Associate Gas Controllers.Stays informed of current industry DOT/PSC operational regulations and requirements.Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Conditions

Normal office environment. Twelve-hour and/or eight hour rotating shift schedule.
