Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:
Develops, implements and monitors a broad range of self-insurance claims management programs. May be involved in Management of certain corporate insurance activities of the Company as warranted.
MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):
Responsible for investigating, managing, negotiating and handling all aspects of self-Insured retained loss claims involving automobile liability, General Liability, Property damage and personal injuries. Negotiates and settles claims in accordance with company policy. Works directly with legal staff and outside counsel on larger claims. Work with operating Companies on Claims issues as they relate to customer satisfaction and/or regulatory complaints.
Administers referrals, communications, and information between employees, supervisors, and with our outside Medicare vendor for personal injury matters.
Assign and direct claims assignments to outside adjustment firms (as necessary).
Assists HR operations in the interpretation of FMLA and ADA regulations and working with directly withemployee’s claims.
Supports management with corporate goals related with cost reduction through improved methods, procedures,and Claims program changes. Prepare summary reports utilizing Claims Management System.
Handles, processes, tracks and submits for payment monthly claim deductible billings from insurance company.
Willingness to travel.
Handle PUC/PSC complaints associated with claims.
Education & Experience Required:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Associates Degree with a minimum of three years relevant experience or High School/GED with a minimum of five years relevant experience required.
Requires some knowledge of Tort Claims laws and statutes.
Knowledge of PC Application – Word, Excel, Power-Point
Strong interpersonal communication (written and verbal) skills
Ability to negotiate an outcome
A high level of attention to detail, good judgment, analytical ability and decision making is essential
Ability to investigate and document facts is a must
Results oriented and proactive
Nature of work requires that candidate adhere to a policy requiring Strict Confidentiality
Must be willing to accept 7-day week 24-hour a day "on-call" status on a rotating basis (approx. every 4 – 6 weeks) as necessary
