Southwest Gas Corporation Analyst II, Budget Area - Victorville in Victorville, California

The Analyst II/Budget/Area is an individual contributor involved in Area/Division Accounting and Budget Analysis. Responsibilities include the forecasting of departmental budgets, perform budgetary analysis and reporting of on-going budget variances, advising on potential opportunities within the budget, and be a conduit between other departments.

The incumbent does not have direct accountability for people or budgets.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are clear precedents and practices which the incumbent uses to determine how this job is performed. This position requires a minimum of three years of relevant work experience plus a bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential job responsibilities.

Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other financial application systems required.

An advanced degree and/or a professional certification are highly preferred (i.e., CPA, CMA, etc.).

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the development and monitoring of short-term and long-term budgetary plans to include analysis of prior years and leading monthly discussions on variances

  • Maintain department operating and capital budgets and supporting information in compliance with prescribed policies and procedures

  • Perform analysis to determine anticipated surpluses and deficits and consult leadership on opportunities

  • Conduct complex financial analysis and prepare reports

  • Track/monitor budgeted and ad-hoc spend on a real-time, on-going basis, when applicable

  • Conduct accounting and financial work assignments in compliance with all corporate standard practices as well as contractual and legal requirements

  • Lead process improvements around budgeting and forecasting in alignment with Corporate Accounting

  • Prepare reports, summaries, and presentations of the department’s budgetary information for Leadership

  • Perform budget funding pre-approval for all new contracts and change orders

  • Report out quarter and year end budgetary accruals for the department

  • Prepare responses to data requests for use by Regulatory Affairs Department

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

  • Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

SALARY DETAILS

$71,610 - $103.840
