NOTE: there are two open positions associated with this posting. These positions are located in Pflugerville, Texas.
Position Summary
This is the both the entry level and initial training level for the series. This training level is intended to train for the less difficult (technical) work. Trainees, under close supervision and in accordance with established safety and technical procedures, learn and perform increasingly difficult duties of a semi-technical nature in a specialized program. When incumbents become proficient in their duties, they work under general supervision and guidelines performing routine tasks and assist higher level technicians more complex and difficult tasks. A Level 1 will have received the initial DRA training and will have completed the core concepts knowledge requirement. A Level 1 will need to be teamed up with a Level 2, 3, or 4. Employees at this level will receive instruction and oversight as new or unusual situations arise while they become more familiar with operating procedures and policies.
Responsibilities
Maintenance of Solar facilities
• Diagnose and resolve faults on solar as they relate to mechanical or electrical issues.
• Perform pad mounted Transformer switching in accordance with all Hazardous Energy Controls Procedures
• Perform corrective tasks on solar equipment
• Work as scheduled during the week and on call as required by manager
• Maintain a high level of safety awareness at all times
• Work in a outdoor environment for an extended period of time
• Operate grounds keeping equipment including but not limited to weed eaters and lawn movers
Compliance & Administrative Record Maintenance
• EH&S Documentation
• Complete necessary paperwork (work order, timesheet, tool and PPE inventory, and additional paperwork as necessary)
• Work within Maximo to complete work orders
Add 'l Support for Sites
• Willing to travel and assist other Duke Energy Generation Services solar facilities when needed.
Basic/Required Qualifications - Solar Tech I
Associate's degree or Technical certification OR
HS/GED and one plus year of work related experience.
Valid Drivers license
Desired Qualifications
Additional solar experience
Experience with multiple solar supplier technology
High voltage and sub-station maintenance experience
Familiarity with mechanical and electronic testing equipment (i.e. voltage testers, amp clamps, oscilloscopes, and various hand and power tools)
Knowledge of heavy equipment for facility maintenance
Specific Requirements
Valid driver's license
Complete Initial Training in Duke Renewable Academy
