Bonneville Power Administration IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/INFOSEC) in Vancouver, Washington
Summary This position is located in Operational Infrastructure and Virtualization (TTOV) organization of Operational Services (TTO), Transmission Technology Services (TT), Transmission Services (T), Bonneville Power Administration (BPA). A successful candidate in the IT Specialist (SYADMIN/INFOSEC) position will serve as a subject matter expert that provides expert technical knowledge on mission critical and business critical data systems necessary to support a 7x24 operation. Responsibilities As a IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/INFOSEC), you will: Plan and conduct simulations to determine capacity requirements and recommend hardware/software replacements or upgrades to meet current and future requirements. Develop Operational Services procedures for responding to new threats to systems confidentiality, integrity, and availability, e.g., checking key files for problems and reviewing running operations to ensure only authorized processes are running. Develop and present plans for integrating new network technology into existing architecture. Provide authoritative technical advice and guidance to systems administrators throughout Operational Services in responding to serious systems threats. Integrate information systems security with other security disciplines, certify systems or network accreditation, and ensure coordination and/or collaboration on security activities. Lead the implementation of security programs designed to anticipate, assess, and minimize system vulnerabilities, e.g., intrusion detection or access authentication programs. Establish, implement, and interpret the requirements for control center compliance with higher-level policy directives and Executive Orders governing infrastructure protection. As required by Executive Order 14043, Federal employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 regardless of the employee's duty location or work arrangement (e.g., telework, remote work), subject to such exceptions as required by law. If you are selected for this position, you will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by November 22, 2021, or prior to onboarding, if hired after November 22, unless you request a legally required exception from this requirement. As part of onboarding, you will need to submit DOE's Certification of COVID-19 Vaccination for Prospective Federal Employees attesting to truthfulness that you are fully vaccinated by November 22, 2021, or prior to onboarding, if hired after November 22, 2021. Once onboard, you will then be required to provide proof of vaccination in DOE's MyEnergy system and certify the documentation you provide is true and correct under penalty of perjury. Providing a knowing and willful false statement on either DOE's COVID-19 Vaccination Form prior to starting or when providing proof of vaccination in DOE's MyEnergy system once onboard is punishable by fine and/or imprisonment (18 U.S.C. 1001) and will result in termination from Federal service. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications BASIC REQUIREMENT: You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four (4) competencies listed below. The experience must be IT related and may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification) as appropriate. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Experience in 1) planning and conducting simulations to determine capacity requirements and recommend hardware or software replacements and 2) infrastructure protection, systems security certification, or accreditation processes to meet current and future organizational business requirements.
