Primary Purpose

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Trains and coordinates work of lower classified building attendants and performs related building services and maintenance.

Primary Duties

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assigns duties to the cleaning force. Performs general cleaning such as; mopping and cleaning floors, office, hallways, lunchrooms and other areas under the jurisdiction of the department. Removes trash from all areas. Occasionally operates power equipment such as; the bulk paper shredder and the power vacuum to clean sidewalks and driveways. Performs minor building maintenance such as; replacing burned out light bulbs.

  • Moves and assembles furniture and file cabinet frames. Assembles and dismantles free standing partitions. Coordinates work of other attendants in the relocating or rearranging of offices.

  • Responsible for occasional outside maintenance such as cutting grass and trimming hedges at various locations of Company property. Pick up litter and debris from building grounds and exterior walkways to maintain a clean and professional appearance.

  • Takes inventory of cleaning and lavatory supplies and requests replacement as needed.

  • Operates a Company vehicle to transport other personnel and to deliver or collect material.

  • Leads lower classified attendants in the cleaning and preparation of meetings and other special facilities events.

Job Scope

JOB SCOPE

The Lead Building Attendant plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness of Company facilities. This position is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the daily activities of building attendants, providing hands-on support in janitorial and minor maintenance tasks, and serving as the primary liaison between building service staff and management. The Lead Building Attendant ensures that building service operations are performed efficiently, in accordance with safety standards and departmental procedures. The role also includes responsibilities for furniture relocation, exterior maintenance, inventory tracking, and special event setup.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess High School Diploma or GED or Trade School Diploma.

  • Possess a valid drivers permit in jurisdiction where employed with ability to obtain a Pepco drivers permit.

  • Possess knowledge of computer use (e.g. word processing, e-mail, and spreadsheet software).

  • Ability to speak and understand English.

  • Ability to read and write.

  • Ability to train or instruct other personnel.

  • Ability to follow direct instructions.

  • Hourly rates will be paid in accordance with terms of the candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience or collective bargaining agreement: $28.25/Hr.
