Your Impact at SAM

The Business Development Manager is responsible for growing and maintaining the relationship with customer, which includes building and cultivating relationships, identifying opportunities, and generating new business. This role serves as a client facing Subject Matter Expert for GIS, utility mapping and inspection services.

  • Work with Office and Company Leadership to create and execute sales plans as well as pitch and pursuit strategies

  • Lead the organization’s business development activities in order to achieve annual new business revenue and growth goals with a “hunter” mentality

  • Deliver regular reports on the status of the Business Development pipeline and sales activities

  • Grow SAM’s Business Development pipeline by cultivating new leads and relationships with potential clients

  • Provide SME level consultation to municipal and local government clients for leveraging geospatial services to support their infrastructure and operations

  • Serve as a liaison with operational teams to ensure that client needs, and scope are understood and supported

  • Develop proposal approach/strategy based on the requirements of proposals and RFPs

  • Attend networking and industry events and conferences as an SME for SAM

  • Track progress for client/opportunities utilizing Salesforce

  • Travel onsite to client locations and conferences as needed to achieve the objectives of the position

  • Perform other tasks as assigned to help accomplish the company’s strategic goals

  • Execute the duties of the position in an ethical manner and with a high standard of integrity towards all internal and external SAM stakeholders

What You Bring to SAM

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred(discipline in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or other closely related field of study), or equivalent education and experience

  • 3-5years of Experience in similar industry related toinvestor owned utilities (IOU’s), transportation/transit agencies, state and local governmentwith proven sales/business development success

  • Experience with Salesforce is preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

  • Capable of working both individually and as a part of a very dynamic team of professionals

  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail, and organizational, interpersonal, and team-oriented skills

  • Ability to perform several tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines

  • Capable of prioritizing and arranging time and tasks while managing input and feedback from multiple teams inside an organization

  • Experience working withESRI and Asset Management solutions is a plus

  • Ability to travel between 30-50% regionally and nationally
