Description

The Power Technology Service Analyst maintains, provides reporting, and improves the performance of services provided by Power Technology to GSOC, GTC, and the Family of Companies to support their mission to reliably deliver power to the state of Georgia. This position requires a high level of experience and expertise in the areas of cyber-security, information technology and/or telecommunications.

    This position in GSOC's Power Technology operations is responsible for performing analysis, reporting, and programmatic support for services provided by Power Technology Operations. This position will actively monitor our company operations and make recommendations to leadership about enhancing business processes and structure while working with the management team to identify opportunities to help increase performance of services provided by Power Technology Operations. This position is accountable for the timely completion of high quality products. This position requires compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, industry standards, corporate policies, guidelines, and procedures, including but not limited to, RUS, OSHA, NERC, FERC and ITS requirements. Must be willing to engage and participate in an environment of compliance and continuous improvement to meet the Corporation’s goals and objectives.

    GSOC centrally operates high security datacenters as well as a highly secure state-wide fiber optic network with a primary focus on operating the power grid across the state of Georgia. This is a unique opportunity to support and protect the largest machine on the planet, the electrical power grid. Because extensive fiber optic systems are needed to operate the power grid effectively, much of the electrical industry is quickly growing into becoming analogous to large telecom providers. This position represents a ground floor opportunity to work directly on 100GB/s+ transport systems as they are being rolled out to support grid operations and broadband initiatives. Many of the EMC's (local power companies) across the state of Georgia are quickly working to bring fast rural broadband internet solutions to their customers.

    Job Duties:

    All Positions - Level III, IV, and V

  • Provides technical expertise, guidance, and support to the Power Technology leadership team. Works with leadership to ensure that roles and responsivities are properly documented and regularly reviewed within the areas of Power Technology Operations ensuring alignment with programs, initiatives and organizational goals.

  • Performs analysis of the performance of the services provided by Power Technology Operations, examples of these services include: telecommunications services, connectivity provided to GSOC and other member companies, call center operations, network operations, telephony operations.

  • Develops/maintains Cyber-Security procedures, engineering procedures, operational procedures, training documentation, and provides programmatic support for Power Technology Operations programs, such as the Security and Network Operations Center and Telecom and Technical Support departments. Suggests performance improvements and ensures programs and services are aligned with the goals of the organization, such as internal initiatives, projects, and corporate goals.

  • Responsible for compiling and delivery of regular performance reports and metrics to customers of Power Technology and Power Technology Operations leadership based on the performance of the services delivered by Power Technology Operations.

  • Works directly with engineering groups, operations groups, cyber-security groups, customers, other departments, and stakeholders to ensure developmental updates to processes and procedures are clearly understood and communicated. This includes developing training, presentations, drawings, and other materials as required.

  • Facilitate the creation of SOWs (Statement of Work) to facilitate outsourced engineering and operational functions. Coordinates with 3rd party contracted resources for improvement projects as required.

    Level IV

  • Duties as described above in all positions above .

  • Serves as a technical expert, advising engineers, cyber security professionals, information technology professionals, and telecommunications professionals on highly complex problems.

    Level V

  • Duties as described above in all positions above .

  • Serves as a technical lead, advising engineers, cyber security professionals, information technology professionals, and telecommunications professionals on highly complex problems.

  • Uses advanced industry knowledge to coordinate engineering groups, operations groups, cyber-security groups, customers, other departments, and stakeholders to ensure developmental updates to processes and procedures are clearly understood and communicated. This includes developing training, presentations, drawings, and other materials as required.

  • Leads department level analysis of the performance of the services provided by Power Technology Operations, examples of these services include: telecommunications services, connectivity provided to GSOC and other member companies, call center operations, network operations, telephony operations. Provides training and ensures alignment with other analysts in Power Technology Operations.

    Required Qualifications:

    Education: Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

    Experience:

  • Power Technology Service Analyst III

    • 6 years’ experience in the areas of Business Administration, Telecommunications, Industrial Control Systems, or Information Technology.
  • Equivalent Experience:

  • Associates Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field with at least 8+ years of experience in any of the following areas: Business administration, Telecommunications, Industrial control systems, or Information Technology.

  • Ten or more (10+) years of direct experience in the following areas: Business Administration, Telecommunications, Industrial control systems, or Information Technology.

  • Power Technology Service Analyst IV

    • 10+ years’ experience in the areas of Engineering, Telecommunications, Industrial Control Systems, or Information Technology.
  • Equivalent Experience:

  • Associates Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with at least 12+ years of experience as stated above.

  • Fifteen or more (15+) years of direct experience as stated above.

  • Power Technology Services Analyst V

    • 11+ years’ experience in the areas of Engineering, Telecommunications, Industrial Control Systems, or Information Technology.
  • Equivalent Experience:

  • Associates Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, , Information Technology, or related field with at least 13+ years of experience as stated above.

  • Fifteen or more (15+) years of direct experience as stated above.

    Specialized Skills:

  • Expert level background in information technology, telecommunications engineering, and/or operations.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent organization and time management skills, analytical and creative problem solving skills, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by the work.

  • Ability to create and deliver presentations to a wide variety of audiences.

    Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations : Georgia Driver’s License. Must obtain and maintain Bulk Electric System Cyber Authorized Status as defined in GSOC's CIP Cyber Security Policy 301 and NERC Reliability Standard CIP 004 - Personnel Risk Assessment.
