Area Coordinator II, Central-East Region


Works under general supervision of Supervisor, Substation Maintenance, performs tasks included in previous levels such as completion of preventative and corrective work within a regional assignment and maintaining good working relationships with Members, all at a standard of quality expected of the most experienced Substation Area Coordinator. Thorough knowledge of all aspects of transmission and distribution substation maintenance and operation is required. Maintains close working relationship with Member Systems. Provides guidance and support for lower Coordinator levels.

Plan, coordinate and supervise any number of different transmission and distribution substation maintenance activities including mobile substation installations, equipment replacement, minor capital projects, etc.

Perform maintenance tasks at transmission and distribution substations including inspection, oil samples, battery maintenance etc..

Test and provide accurate test results on various types of transmission and distribution substation equipment including transformers, breakers, etc. 12 kV to 500 kV and be able to interpret those results and determine what steps are necessary in order to correct problems as needed.

Provide guidance and support to other area coordinators.

Travel at any time to any part of the state of Georgia for any amount of time necessary to complete a task or respond to emergency.

Troubleshoot a problem and initiate a cost effective, timely and quality solution.

Work Area: Central East Region (Includes the following Electric Membership Cooperative territories: Rayle, Excelsior, Planters, Jefferson Energy and Washington)

Education: Associate Degree in Engineering Technology

Experience: Ten (10) years in substation maintenance, construction inspection, testing or operations.

Equivalent Experience: Twelve (12) years direct experience with increasing responsibility.

Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Valid GA Drivers License, ITS Qualified 5-day with Switching Authority.

Specialized Skills: Typing, computers, software, tools and equipment uses, etc. Physically capable of climbing and heavy lifting. Extensive travel. Some computer knowledge would be helpful.

Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.
