Portland General Electric Principal Resource Integration Analyst, Power Operations in Tualatin, Oregon

Principal Resource Integration Analyst, Power Operations

Career Level: P5

Power Operations is looking for a candidate with experience in resource integration and project management to ensure new energy supply resources (e.g., renewable, distributed energy resources, etc.) or wholesale contractual services are properly integrated into the multiple systems, business practices and platforms used by operational teams at PGE.

A successful candidate will be comfortable in a leadership role with cross-functional teams and eager to drive the establishment of standards and business processes that more efficiently align Power Operations with IT, Engineering, Balancing Authority, Mid- and Back-office functions, Structuring and Origination, and Demand Response programs. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role at PGE and strengthen partnerships across departments. Participation in “first of its kind” projects is to be expected as PGE advances its strategic priorities to decarbonize, electrify and perform.

What you will work on:

Project Management: Manage or oversee highly complex projects and/or project portfolio in support of PGE Power Operations. Oversee or directly develop project plans, design standards, and procedures that you will ultimately use to lead (or co-lead) project implementation. Collaborate or oversee collaboration with stakeholder’s assignment of work tasks or sub-projects within larger corporate wide resource integration projects. Continually monitor projects to ensure alignment across matrix teams of subject matter experts while meeting tight deadlines. Reprioritize and adapt plans in response to changing environment.

Planning and Standards Design: Guide, facilitate, and prioritize overall company resource integration projects. Provide consultation and guidance on development of enterprise-wide standards and gain commitments from multiple departments for requirements.

Research and Analysis: Lead or oversee development of overall technical requirements through interview of subject matter experts in departments across PGE to gain insights into what is next. Using current lessons learned and standards to makes recommendations for changes to other departments standards and procedures. Develop reports and dashboards for monitoring projects progress.

Requirements and Compliance: Ensure processes and deliverables meet regulatory requirements, contractual terms, and internal standards. Research and develop proactive updates to standards and processes.

Process Management: Oversee and lead efforts to improve processes, practices, and cross departmental communications and coordination. Develop or oversee the development of overall process documentation system or methodology.

Third-Party Management: Establish overall third-party engagement strategy and communication plan. Includes interaction with third party generation project developer, transmission operator, and neighboring balancing authority.

Consultation: Serve as PGE internal subject matter expert on new resource integration.

You will be someone with:


Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering or related financial or scientific discipline or equivalent experience.

Typically, 12 or more years in utility or similar energy sector experience in the area(s) of engineering, power operations, balancing authority area operations, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
