15B - $74,900 - $99,800
Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. However, hours can be irregular. Nights, weekends, and extra hours will be required as plant conditions dictate. Travel will be required in support of the Energy Centers. Additional overnight travel may be required.
Reporting to the Sr Mgr Reliability, the candidate’s primary duty will be to develop boiler outage scopes, repair plans and inspection procedures to promote reliability of equipment, and processes at all of the company’s energy centers (with primary focus at Evergy Kansas sites). The candidate will acquire data, perform analysis, and prepare reports that document problems with equipment and processes. The candidate assists in the implementation of new and revised maintenance practices at all the company’s energy centers and actively participates in the maintenance and reliability best practices team. Secondary duties of a successful candidate include assistance in the inspections and repair planning of generating station fuel systems, air quality control systems and loss control programs.
Education and Experience Requirements:
The preferred candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or an Engineering Technology Degree. The selected candidate must have at least three years or related knowledge, skill, ability and experience in an industrial plant environment operating, maintaining and/or inspecting equipment for reliability. General knowledge in NDT techniques such as UT, MT, PT, RT, ET, VT and Predictive Maintenance Technologies is highly desired.
Additional Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
The preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills:
Working knowledge of power generation equipment with emphasis on steam generation equipment.
Ability to read and understand plant technical documents including operations and maintenance manuals, technical drawings, schematics, logic diagrams, and safety materials.
Ability to lead, prioritize and oversee contractors performing inspections and repairs while ensuring work is performed safely and in accordance with Evergy and industry best practices.
Ability to participate constructively in work teams to facilitate and implement improvements to operations, maintenance, and business practices.
Knowledge of applicable governing codes and regulations.
Ability to devise new approaches to problems encountered in the technical environment.
Working knowledge of NDT inspection techniques such as UT, VT, PT, MT, ET and RT.
Working knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies, i.e. thermography and vibration analysis.
Proficiency with MS Office computer applications.
Analyzing, interpreting, and reporting data in written, verbal and presentation format.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong influential and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead others.
Ability to apply tact, diplomacy, reason, and logic to the work situations at hand.
Excellent planning and project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and a heavy work load.
Facilitate the implementation of RCM methods at all energy centers.
Perform reliability studies to analyze and identify specific areas or equipment needing improvement.
Develop and implement changes to equipment maintenance plans based on reliability principles and EPRI best practices.
Provide technical consultation services in the areas of reliability, work and materials management, and business administration.
Follow company safety and health guidelines and other company policies.
Licenses, Certificates, Bonding and/or Testing Required:
Must have valid driver's license.
Must have satisfactory work record including good attendance.
Must have the ability to perform the physical activities of the job. Requires extensive on site plant work with some office work. Requires the ability to work outdoors and in an industrial plant environment including, but not limited to, exposure to ambient temperature extremes, dusty/moist environments, climbing ladders and stairways, working at heights on elevated structures and platforms, and working in cramped spaces occasionally which may require bending, stooping, and standing.
