Summary

ETL Data Transformation and Modeling Analyst II / III - Palo Verde - The Palo Verde Nuclear Plant is looking for a skilled ETL Data Transformation and Modeling Analyst II / III to partner with business and APS managers. In this role, you'll play a key part in understanding and prioritizing data and information requirements, focusing on the design and support of cutting-edge Business Intelligence (BI) applications and architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proficient in data architecture, data modeling, data transformation and consumption, and data integration

  • Collaborate with business and APS managers to identify and prioritize data needs.

  • Design, develop, and maintain advanced BI applications and architecture.

  • Extract data from various sources and manage data warehouses.

  • Solve technical challenges and optimize the performance of BI tools by defining data filters and indexes.

  • Work with cloud-based solutions and architecture.

  • Utilize tools like Informatica and Azure Synapse for data integration and management.

  • Four (4) years of SQL, Data Modeling and ETL, BI Dashboard and/or report development experience (Power BI, SAP Business Objects) preferred.

Minimum Requirements

ETL Data Transformation and Modeling Analyst II - Palo Verde

  • Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field

  • AND five (5) years of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.

    ETL Data Transformation and Modeling Analyst III - Palo Verde

  • Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field

  • AND (7) years of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications

  • Knowledge of business intelligence database structures, algorithms, best practices and auditing mechanisms.

  • Business intelligence products such as Azure Synapse, Power BI Dashboards, Power BI, Informatica, report builder; data warehouse objects, dimensions, hierarchies, fact tables, and aggregates; database and statistical programming languages (SQL, Python)

  • Familiarity with cloud architecture and tools like Azure Synapse, Azure Data factory (ADF), Azure Data Lake.

  • Data warehousing and performance concepts; common and complex business intelligence tools; change control and business intelligence agility methodologies; performance tuning practices; the development of complex SQL inquiries

    Nuclear requirement: Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member. Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage. This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities.

Major Accountabilities

1) Manages large complex projects and systems relating to information design and business intelligence

2) Evaluates internal customers' needs and abilities in order to provide appropriate solutions

3) Conducts analyses of functional business processes and requirements for a wide range of requests using data in different formats and from various platforms

4) Interprets business requirements and determines BI solutions to meet needs; Provides input to business requirements for the design of solutions

5) Provides input to new technology opportunities with impact on the enterprise-wide BI systems

6) Designs enterprise-wide custom reports/views

7) Researches business problems and creates models that support analysis

8) Analyzes testing results to ensure the solution meets the needs of the business

9) Researches tools, frameworks and mechanisms for BI needs

10) Provides input to standards, policies and procedures for the form, structure, and attributes of the BI tools and systems.

11) Serves as a highly experienced and knowledgeable resource within the organization on information design and business intelligence

12) Leads information design training and provides assistance/expertise to employees

13) Responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other information design and business intelligence within job area

14) Works in a fast paced environment and that requires critical thinking

Flex Role:

This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work, but the ultimate decision is the company's. Employees will have two options to choose from:

  • APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.

  • Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.

    *Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
