Summary

APS Palo Verde is looking for Human Resource Summer Intern to join their team in Tonopah, AZ

The APS Human Resource Summer Intern will have the opportunity to acquire broad experience in practicing and learning business and Human resource fundamentals in real work settings. This position will have the opportunity to interact with stakeholders across multiple departments including, APS CHQ and Palo Verde business groups. The Human Resources Summer Intern will support the HR team with various tasks and projects related to talent acquisition, employee relations, training and development, and compliance. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to gain hands-on experience in HR functions specific to the nuclear industry.

The Palo Verde Summer internship is a paid 10 week program. During the 10 weeks at Palo Verde you will be equipped with the tools needed to thrive and be challenged with meaningful individual and group projects. You will get support from leaders who will help you succeed. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in a New Hire Orientation, Professional Development opportunities and company tours to learn more about Palo Verde and Arizona Public Service.

The Palo Verde Internship is a paid 10 week program starting in May, ending in July. Qualified students will receive housing during the program, if an in person internship.

Minimum Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited college or university undergraduate degree program.

  • Must show ongoing achievement in areas of study and training

  • 3.0 GPA or higher

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited college or university undergraduate program in a Human resource, or business with a focus in HR related discipline.

Nuclear Requirement

Any PVGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member. Any PVGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage. This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities. Major Accountabilities

1) Performs simple to intermediate analysis and designs. May assist in preparing business/engineering plans, designs, specifications, cost estimates, evaluations and studies.

2) Assists in research, business documentation, studies or technical reviews. Conducts analyses, investigations, verifications and summarizes results or findings in written reports or oral presentations.

3) Utilizes internal resources to learn business/engineering operations/functions and apply learning in completion of work assignments.

4) Coordinates efforts with other disciplines, and/or departments in achieving project goals and task assignments.

5) Performs other related duties as required.

Flex Role:

This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work. Employees will have two options to choose from:

  • APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.

  • Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.

    *Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
