Become a Key Accounts Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will represent SCE in delivering consultative sales and marketing of electric energy, services, and products: Integrated Demand-Side Management (IDSM), Transportation Electrification (TE), wildfire mitigation and Public Safety Power Shut-Off (PSPS) programs, and Distributed Energy Resources (DER) enrollment with major local government customers (cities, counties, water & wastewater segment, hospitals, schools, etc…), assessing their unique business needs, resolving customer care issues, and driving customer satisfaction.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Manage a module of large, DSM active, industry focused and politically sensitive, sophisticated, and/or influential customers that require significant customer care engagement and successful handling to avert potentially major impacts to the company.

  • Establish and maintain long-term business relationships with major customers through field and telephone-based interactions, often sensitive in nature, at the highest levels of the organization.

  • Assess and develop recommendations or solutions to energy issues for clients.

  • Prepare an annual plan for assigned major customers consistent with the Business Customer Division (BCD) business plan and major intent of SCE.

  • Continuously monitor and assess the competitive environment in order to effectively navigate market dynamics and maintain effective customer business plans for major customers.

  • Proactively identify and resolve major/complex customer issues for major customers, occasionally of a political/controversial/sensitive nature, and without an established precedent.

  • Maintain routine internal contact with direct manager to provide updates on assigned major customers and receive new information about SCE offerings and services, and discuss market intelligence.

  • Maintain up-to-date Customer Service Re-Platform (CSRP) records including customer profiles and account management activity business plans by using sales management tools.

  • Maintain frequent contact with major account customers’ executive management and technical staff to consult, recommend, negotiate, and drive enrollment/participation in IDSM solutions and resolve customer care issues.

  • Provide functional direction and direct work of a project team involving company personnel to address customer/company issues.

Qualifications

The essentials

  • Seven or more years of experience in sales or account management.

  • Five or more years of experience in the energy industry.

  • Experience developing or implementing sales plans, presenting ideas and information to small/medium groups and/or difficult or sophisticated internal/external audiences, and influencing decision makers.

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Marketing, Engineering, Business, Economics, or a related field.

  • Experience in financial/economic analysis, pricing, and sales. Thorough knowledge of electrical theory, energy systems, energy efficiency, demand response, and environmental technologies.

  • Experience with key energy industry issues such as utility rates, regulated utility processes, and the rules and regulations governing the energy industry.

  • Experience conducting integrated DSM audits.

  • Project management experience.

  • Business Energy Professional / Certified Energy Manager / Professional Engineer certification.

  • Ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to improve customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.

  • CSRP, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or other customer information systems.

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite applications.
