Responsible for telecommunications transport microwave systems strategy and architecture development, and execution of microwave system design and projects. Leads microwave technical systems integration with other telecom transport areas and addresses interface issues including cyber security, systems management, and monitoring tools, and development of system design documentation.
Act as a lead on information technology initiatives affecting Entergy’s telecommunications resources.
Work closely with business leaders to understand the direction and corporate road map in order to develop an appropriate telecommunications strategy to support business goals.
Work with telecommunications engineering verticals to architect solutions that effectively address business needs, availability and supportability requirements. Assist in the development of Telecommunications engineering standards and practices, in coordination with engineering units throughout Entergy’s organization.
Participate in the selection of telecommunications technologies and products.
In conjunction with program management and engineering, develop the telecommunications technology road map and investment plan, and participate in communication of the plan to technology and/or business management.
Maintain familiarity with applicable regulations and ensure compliance with applicable requirements, regulations, procedures, and specifications. Subject matter expert with regards to 6 GHZ spectrum. Ensure employees, contractors and vendors operate in compliance with Energy’s safety regulations and practices. Ensure proper follow-up in compliance with Human Performance procedures by creating Condition Reports, conducting causal analyses and pursuing Corrective Action, as required.
Utilize applicable change management methodology to assure effective implementation of changes. Develop and revise procedures as required. Maintain familiarity with and follow operating procedures.
Analyze proposed and actual projects in terms of equipment, software and personnel costs.
Minimum education required of the position
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
Minimum experience required of the position
7 years of relevant IT experience required. Concentrated experience with microwave transport systems is a plus.
- Data/Transport Engineering experience in designing, developing, configuring, implementing, and automating telecommunications and data networks and systems across diverse vendors. With at least five years focused on architecture, design and planning of Microwave Transport systems in the 6 GHz frequency range across both TDM and IP implementations.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Preferred: Strong knowledge of microwave transport systems, microwave path design tools (Pathloss), FCC regulations, Packet based Transport, Layer 1/2/3 Networking, and interfacing techniques with legacy TDM systems.
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position
Be able to maintain a valid Driver's License, TWIC card or other applicable required license, background check, or ID.
