JOB SUMMARY:

The Entergy IT Performance Team needs an experienced software Release Coordinator who will be responsible for the Release Management (RM) lifecycle, which includes the scheduling, coordinating and management of software releases across multiple enterprise applications. Releases can be inclusive of application updates, operating system patches, security improvements, hardware upgrades, projects and programs. Where necessary, you’ll provide tools and services to help product management and project teams manage and deploy releases into production.

The Release Coordinator will work with the Project and Portfolio Management teams to minimize future constraints as Releases are being planned. In this capacity he/she will serve as a thought leader and will utilize a questioning attitude during planning to ensure projects are efficiently and thoroughly tested while avoiding resource constraints.

This role works to ensure that the integrity of Entergy’s production environment is protected and that the correct components are released into production, then effectively transferred to operations and support.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, organize, direct and manage activities for building and maintaining software releases for their promotion between test environments and into the production environment.

  • Ensure the RM process is introduced and implemented according to guidelines from leadership. Additionally, the selected Release Coordinator provides continuous communications and coordination of progress on actions, tasking, and issues.

  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time, and that they meet or exceed expectations.

  • Maintenance of the release schedule to include the scheduling and forward-planning of release windows and cycles across platforms.

  • Maintain and provide continuous improvement of the RM processes, working methods, and tools.

  • Help drive the activities that continue to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the RM process.

  • Provide day-to-day oversight of adherence to the RM processes, policies, and procedures.

  • Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at onsite and offsite locations worldwide.

  • Maintain a release repository and manage key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum education required of the position

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS, or other technical area or equivalent experience

Minimum experience required of the position

IT Consultant: 3+ years of related experience in IT or equivalent combination of education and work experience

IT Consultant, Sr.: 8+ years of related experience in IT or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

Desired Skills:

  • Experienced Release Coordinator who has previously been responsible for enterprise-level application deployments, preferably in Agile environments.

  • Effective communicator with an ability to work alongside cross-functional teams, building relationships with both technical and non-technical people.

  • Proactive in managing release cycles and process improvement and you thrive in a fast-paced setting. Problem solver who enjoys the occasional fire to put out.

  • Experienced with facilitation and enforcement of procedures and processes across multiple teams and diverse geographic locations.

  • Demonstrated ability in establishing and maintaining metrics-based process improvement.

  • Organized and detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple deployments.

  • PC skills and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.

  • Previous experience using ServiceNow Release Management

  • Previous deployment automation experience

  • Previous DevOps experience

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

ITIL Certification desired
