Summary

The Senior Manager Survey reports directly to the Senior Director of the Land Department providing essential leadership and direction to the Manager of Technical Survey, Supervisor of Field Survey and Survey Lead. Position is accountable for the performance and results of the Survey department. Manages vendor relationships with multiple consulting firms and oversees the on-call contract deliverables. Position is responsible for developing operational objectives and communicating a strategic vision for the department. Position develops and maintains tactical relationships with internal SRP customers to develop departmental plans and manages resources accordingly. Position provides strategic direction for process improvements and policies. Position is responsible for survey capital and O&M budget sufficient to maintain and advance the department’s capabilities and productivity.

What You'll Do

• Provide effective leadership and direction to the Manager of Technical Survey, Supervisor of Field Survey, Survey Lead and professional indirect reports. Delegates assignments and objectives to subordinate managers.

• Provide strategic direction for department goals and objectives. Develops long/short term business plans, organizational priorities and maintains key productivity indicators for the Survey Department.

• Provide expertise and support on land surveying issues to external customers and internal stakeholders, employees and service groups.

• Promote a safety culture and ensure safety procedures are in compliance with Local, State and Federal Safety practicing.

• Maintain and improve professional knowledge of industry developments and stay up to date on new trends in the land surveying industry.

• Manage vendor relationships with multiple consulting firms and oversees the on-call contract deliverables.

• Monitor resource availability and develop organizational objectives, solutions and processes for the effective operation of the Survey department.

• Cultivate relationships with technical support departments to anticipate changes impacting the Survey Department’s operational effectiveness.

• Collaborate with internal design and construction groups to develop new procedures ensuring the efficient utilization of survey data.

• Collaborates with internal customers to anticipate future internal/external customer needs and develop solutions.

• Communicates strategic direction for department organizational objectives.

• Accountable for Survey managerial staff performance and the results of the Survey department.

What It Takes To Succeed

• Minimum of seven years of experience managing/supervising a land survey workforce and a minimum of eight years of professional land surveying experience as a licensed land surveyor.

• Proven experience managing land surveying professionals in the production of survey products for land boundary, easements, civil construction and litigation.

• Effective experience managing land surveying professionals through change due to new technology, sustainability and client/customer needs.

• Proven ability to adapt existing processes to meet the needs of a demanding technological environment.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze information, identify workforce trends, diagnose problems and develop solutions.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Must possess a collaborative and growth mindset that emphasizes working together, sharing ideas, and leveraging collective intelligence.

Experience

Must have a minimum of eight years of cumulative and progressive experience as a manager or supervisor of a land survey workforce.

Arizona Professional Registered Land Surveyor license required.

Certified Federal Land Surveyor required.

Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
