Summary

The specialist is responsible for the safe and cost competitive collection and analysis of electrical, chemical, thermo graphic, acoustical test data from apparatus belonging to internal SRP and external customers. Determining conformance to design and performance criteria or specifications from analyses of test data and deciding if the apparatuses can be safely returned to service or needs to be repaired. Providing independent professional consultation for customers after performing plant electrical assessment. Providing system operations or electrical maintenance with a decision which minimizes system restoration/outages time, maintains system reliability and keeps shareholder satisfaction high. Works independently while integrating all plans and teams.

What You'll Do

  • Schedules, performs, and assists with on-site-electrical testing investigations of SRP and customers electrical infrastructure determining the appropriate testing points, reviewing the data collected and providing cost effective solutions to the operation and maintenance of SRP customer equipment.

  • Apply safe electrical testing of equipment of SRP's electrical apparatus, perform and gather test data, analyze the data collected and interprets the meaning of that data.

  • Supports other activities of the apparatus engineering department.

  • Develops, maintains and implements upgrades to the information system utilized by the apparatus test group for tracking of its equipment and instrumentation. This also includes maintains the calibration of the equipment to a traceable standard.

  • Authors and maintains departmental safety procedures and records and testing standards and procedures.

What It Takes To Succeed

  • Doble testing certification preferred

  • Entails significant interaction with SRP's customers. This employee will be expected to establish a good relationship with these customers.

  • Employee may be required to sign confidentiality statements.

  • Maintain a safe and effective work environment on and off SRP property.

  • Involves establishing and maintaining good relationships with equipment providers, vendors, consultants and customers.

  • Employee can travel out of state.

  • Employee would be expected to provide testing services and analysis for all SRP departments, facilities and equipment.

  • Ability to interact positively in any environment.

  • Interpret and apply SRP, national and internationally recognized electrical standards.

  • Knowledge of SRP corporate goals and application of these goals in the day-to-day work environment.

  • Practice SRP's safe driving rules.

  • Have a good awareness of the STOP principles and practice these principles.

  • Share expertise with fellow employees.

  • Strong background in problem solving.

  • Strong verbal communication skills.

  • Strong personal computer skills.

  • Understand and enforce the apparatus test group's "safe work practices"

  • Knowledge of power factor testing and software.

  • Knowledge of dissolved gas and fluid quality analysis and software.

  • Knowledge of and ability to use the infrared camera, imaging system and software.

  • Able to take charge of day-to-day activities in the absence of the supervisor.

Experience

Journeyman Electrician or Relay Technician with experience in the maintenance and operation of high/low voltage electrical apparatus within a substation or generation environment.

Experience involving responsibility for safety and direction of the work group. Experience in the area of apparatus testing with knowledge and understanding of apparatus engineering standards.

Education

Completion of an appropriate Apprenticeship program or equivalent.

Completion of an Associate's degree, Apprenticeship, or 60 college credit hours from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
