Summary

The intern will work closely within the Resource Management organization to perform research related to electricity demand in support of SRP’s corporate energy forecast. This includes the use of market trend analysis, using various software/tools, business information evaluation/summary, business partner alignment, risk management, project management, and relationship management. The ideal candidate would exhibit both business acumen and technical skills in data analytics. Projects may include programming, data mining, model development, visualization, and reporting/presenting findings.

What You'll Do

• Have a general passion for learning about the energy sector

• The internship is in Tempe, AZ and will be a mix of in-person and remote based work

• Professionalism, punctuality and a service and team-oriented attitude are required

• Perform self-driven projects to further understand electricity demand in conjunction with resident SRP experts

• Strong problem-solving skills with a drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques

• Comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams

• Visualization experience with Excel, Tableau or Power BI is desired

• Experience with Python or R is desired

• Experience with SQL Server databases, SQL queries and data transformation is desired

• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Performs other functions and duties as assigned

What It Takes To Succeed

• Degree major in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in a relevant field is preferred.

• Candidate must be actively enrolled in a higher education program to be eligible.

• Internship can be on a part or full-time basis to accommodate class schedules.

Initial posting is for the Winter Semester (January – May), with opportunity to renew the posting through the summer and beyond with strong performance.

Education

College level coursework (100+) from an accredited institution will be evaluated on an individual basis according to the skill/level to determine if applicable to the position by management.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
