Position Description

Tacoma Power's Power Management, Energy Resource Planning and Evaluation Group is offering an internship opportunity for a college-level student or recent graduate to work in an environment where you can apply your current studies and receive hands-on experience.

The Energy Resource Planning and Evaluation Group is involved in resource planning, energy policy and designing new and innovative programs for our customers. The intern will have an opportunity to work side-by-side with economists, analysts, engineers, business professionals, environmentalists, legal experts, public policy representatives and marketing specialists.

You will be expected to pursue self-directed research on policy and emerging technologies, assist with business case development, conduct and summarize quantitative analysis, work as part of a cross-functional and diverse team and present analytic results in verbal and written communications. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, analytical, driven, and works well with others.

In this role, you will learn firsthand about how the energy industry works. This includes the policy elements of the business. You will learn about technology and how it drives the industry. You will gain exposure to a real business environment and sharpen your communication and collaboration skills.

The hours for this position will be 40 hours per week during summer break and may require working on some evenings and weekends to staff customer outreach events. The ideal candidate will be available to continue working beyond the summer, full time or part-time with a flexible schedule depending on your availability.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited energy resources planning, business, economics, statistics or other graduate or undergraduate program or a recent graduate;
