Playing a key role in the applications/solutions design and development projects for National Grid using SDLC process in a project implementation setting and utilizing such technologies as IBM Mainframe Technology (COBOL, DB2, JCL, CICS), Unix, C, and C++; including providing support and technical direction for the design, development and integration from definition phase through implementation; Designing business system solutions to meet specific business needs that are fit for purpose, compliant and adhere to all National Grid operational and design standards; Supporting the creation and execution of business critical and complex technical solutions/applications that meet the user needs and improve business performance by providing technical analysis, problem solving and troubleshooting; Applying in-depth knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve applications and service delivery for internal and external stakeholders; Analyzing and identifying application/solutions deficiencies and implementing effective solutions and ensuring that the delivered solutions/applications meet the stated requirements and specifications; Creating and enabling technical plans and revising as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements; Working closely with the Project Managers on defining the detailed scope of the solutions/applications and identifying risks and planning mitigation action with the Project Managers; and Performing testing and validation of the delivered applications/solutions, including and troubleshooting and resolving issues and providing status update.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field, or foreign equivalent degree; plus five (5) years of software development experience utilizing IBM Mainframe Technology (COBOL, DB2, JCL, CICS), Unix, C, and C++; must include experience using Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) process in a project implementation setting; and functional and technical experience of the customer billing system using Customer/1 or Customer Service System (CSS) and meter to cash.
Other Req.: Occasional travel for company events and meetings within National Grid offices in NY, MA and RI.
