Dominion Energy's Nuclear Generation Business Unit seeks a senior level Digital/I&C Engineer with experience in Industrial Control System environments (ICS) to support the Surry Power Station Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) Project in Surry, VA. The SLR Project will extend the life of the plant to 80 years of operation.
The successful candidate for this position must already possesses full knowledge of digital equipment operation and has a demonstrated grasp of fundamental engineering principles and techniques, and an understanding of the procedures and criteria needed to independently carry out assigned engineering tasks. The individual has the ability to exercise good judgment for the required level of detail and risk for the work, and to make the selection and adaptation of engineering alternatives commensurate with a senior level engineer.
Support the development of high quality and technically sound Engineering products and projects which may include Design Change Packages and drawings to provide for engineered plant improvements and solutions to operations and maintenance problems which ensure long-term equipment reliability. This position requires engagement with Engineering vendors, Corporate Engineering, station stakeholders and implementing personnel throughout all design, implementation and testing phases. Individual job responsibilities primarily include independently interfacing with and reviewing engineering changes developed by outside firms via detailed analysis, research, and design reviews including plant walkdowns, interaction with Operations, the implementing department(s) and other stakeholders.
Support the evaluation of digital/I&C vendor equipment and their capabilities by exercising a thorough understanding of the Plant Design and Licensing Bases. Provide the necessary technical recommendations and justification for vendor and equipment selections in accordance with established criteria.
Support the preparation/revision/review of calculations in support of engineering products.
Support the preparation and revision of specifications for the procurement of new or replacement mechanical and electrical equipment systems. Interface with vendors to resolve technical matters.
Support the preparation/review of engineering studies to evaluate design related system operational problems and/or recommended equipment/system replacements in order to provide technically sound engineering solutions.
Possess the ability to independently interface with Engineering vendors, equipment manufacturers and other products produced or developed by outside firms. Perform the necessary analysis, research, and to ensure the best quality product and most cost effective solution is made for the best interest of Dominion Energy.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Must have 8 years of Digital/I&C engineering experience.
Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles.
Skilled in use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines.
Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead.
Provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices.
In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Mat lab, Excel, etc.)
Equally effective working independently or in team environment.
Proven decision making skills.
Ability to process information quickly and effectively manages multiple tasks.
Able to work as a “project owner” and work with AEs, EOCs and various groups in the station.
Familiarity with Industrial Control Systems / Programmable Electronic Systems (DCS and PLC) and third party datalink protocols (Modbus, DNP, ABPLC).
An understanding of industrial control system networks (e.g., ICS, PLC, DPC, and SCADA).
Knowledge of Digital/Cyber Security concepts, practices and procedures as it relates to nuclear plant physical security.
An understanding of workstation and server security and protection.
Able to recommend and support the implementation of architectures necessary to maintain Nuclear Generation’s cyber security and compliance posture.
Have understanding of programmable logic controllers and ladder logic.
Knowledge and experience with network infrastructure, modern operating systems, database applications, web applications and other computing technologies.
Ability to process information and effectively manage multiple tasks.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).
Equally effective working independently or in team environment with various.
Willing to get into the field and perform walkdowns, project management activities and support of testing and troubleshooting of plant modifications.
Ability to read complex station Electrical, Digital and I&C Instrument Loop diagrams.
Ability to work independently to perform complex circuit analysis on new and existing equipment and control systems.
Ability to comprehend Maintenance and Operating department procedures.
Familiar with station design change process including processing Engineering Change Package revisions and drawing change requests.
Ensure system drawings and documentation is revised as needed.
Has held or holds valid Professional Engineer license is a preference.
Experience in commercial nuclear power or Navy/DOD/DOE nuclear experience is preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of Digital/I&C engineering experience
PE, FE, SRO or STA certifications
Project Engineering or Project Management experience
Design Experience of Mechanical Systems and components for Power Stations or other larger Industrial Facilities
Familiarity with Industrial Electrical and Mechanical systems and components (Heat Exchangers, HVAC, Pumps, Piping, Motors, Generators, Valves, Fire Protection, Control systems/methodologies and etc.)

Proficient computer skills with station applications including PMT, ESOMS, DocTop and Microsoft Office.
1) Possess a 4-year Electrical or I&C Engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or 2) Possess a 4-year Electrical or I&C Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or 3) Possess a 4-year engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET, or 4) Possess a 4-year degree in Physics, Chemistry or Math and a post-graduate Computer, Electrical or I&C Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same engineering discipline is ABET accredited based on the year the engineering program was accredited by ABET.
