MYR Group Purchasing Assistant - Electrical Construction in Surrey, British Columbia

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for learning company purchasing policies and procedures and maintaining supply inventory levels required for effective company operation. The Purchasing Assistant will also be charged with conducting regular price comparisons to ensure that the company is always getting the best price for each product that is purchased.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain strong working relationships with our vendors

  • Review purchasing agreements with vendors and maintain open lines of communications with those vendors

  • Develop an active process for measuring supply inventory and determining purchasing needs based on quarterly and annual numbers

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and establish long-term purchasing arrangements with vendors when it is beneficial to the company

  • Compare product deliveries with issued purchase orders and contact vendors when there are discrepancies

  • Prepare purchase orders and special instructions for manufacturers, answer questions from manufacturers that may arise

  • Checking Order Acknowledgments for accuracy (products, cost & ship date)

  • Update company tracking system pricing as necessary and provide communication back to stakeholders

  • Track incoming shipments based on order acknowledgments

  • Ensure orders ship out on time, complete or note any partial shipments with back-order dates

  • Escalate issues to leadership as needed

ABOUT YOU

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required

  • Associates degree or higher is preferred

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a purchasing role

  • Electrical construction industry experience required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

  • Proven history of effective supply management in the electrical construction industry

  • Able to create and administer a task priority list based on company needs

  • Experience with purchasing equipment and supplies for electrical construction projects in the commercial, industrial or utility industry

WHAT WE OFFER

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary $50,000 - $65, 000/ year

  • Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
