Renewable Energy Plant Facility Technician

- Essential Duties and Responsibilities*
This position will be based in Suisun City, CA (Potero Hills Landfill) and will be responsible for maintaining five Caterpillar 3520 engines (large landfill gas fueled engines powering generator)s as well as several other ancillary systems. The position will be responsible for the operations and maintenance of the plant, which will involve working with mechanical and electrical equipment, diagnosing and correcting adverse gas field and plant conditions and malfunctions while ensuring health & safety procedures are adhered to.
High school diploma or equivalent
Possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted state driver’s license
A technical degree/certificate or relevant work experience to provide for the following:
o Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical and/or instrument control systems
o Experience working with equipment such as motors, blowers, controls and pumps
o Ability to perceive and analyze problems, develop solutions and make or recommend sound alternatives
Dedication to safe work practices
Moderate level computer skills and proficiency with MS Office applications, particularly Excel
Familiar with gas processing and/or gas transportation preferred

The employee in this classification will be required to frequently lift objects of up to 25 pounds in weight. Occasionally, the employee will have to lift or move objects of up to 50 pounds in weight.
Vision requirements for this position include close, distance and peripheral vision, along with depth perception.
- Working Conditions*
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme cold and/or heat. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and/or machinery. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Most work is within the vicinity of a municipal solid waste disposal facility. Employee will routinely operate a motor vehicle.
Employee will be required to respond to plant upset conditions (call-outs) outside of normal business hours, work unscheduled overtime and may be required to travel to other work locations using personal transportation (travel expense reimbursed within policy limits).
