Ameren Senior Construction Supervisor in Steedman, Missouri

The Senior Supervisor (Nuclear Contractor Services) is responsible for oversight and management of construction projects and services provided by vendor-based resources.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervise Field Engineers in the planning and implementation of assigned construction projects and major modifications.

  • Build co-worker engagement, ensure teamwork and resolve all vendor/employee conflicts quickly and effectively.

  • Direct and coordinate the construction, maintenance and inspection activities with, contractors, Work Week Coordinators, and other company stakeholders departments.

  • Set clear expectations for direct reports and contractor leadership.

  • Schedule, assign, and direct the work in a safe, efficient, and effective manner in accordance with the applicable contracts and agreements.

  • Evaluate and prioritize work to utilize personnel fully, delivering optimum customer satisfaction and service while meeting high safety and effectiveness standards.

  • Assist in preparation and implementation of function and department goals, motivate direct reports and contractor leadership and monitor progress toward achievement.

  • Monitor, control and document project costs, schedules and quality to meet project construction requirements for budget, timeline, and design.

  • Help to assess and mitigate construction-related risks that may adversely affect safety, cost, schedule or quality.

  • Ensure construction projects and modifications implemented during on-line and station outage activities are coordinated such that they minimize nuclear and safety risk to the station.

  • Document and control project scope changes and provide project updates to project managers as required.

  • Consistently enforce all WPA and safety rules and conduct Job Behavioral Observations with direct reports.

  • Ensure direct reports and contractor leadership understands and enforces Ameren corporate policies as required.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of division and function goals. Identify and implement improvements in project management and operations to optimize costs and improve productivity and quality.

  • Assume Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties in accordance with Callaway Energy Center Radiological Emergency Response Plan (RERP) including responding to assigned ERO facilities within the required response time.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor of Science preferred. Ten or more years of power plant construction projects, industrial/manufacturing or military environment experience required, preferably from nuclear power plant experience as a Maintenance or Construction Supervisor. Three years of supervisory or project team leadership experience preferred. Project Management Professional Certification preferred. A maximum of two years of power plant or industrial experience may be fulfilled by satisfactory completion of academic or related technical training (e.g. SRO) on a one-for-one basis. Construction field activities experience preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Strong administrative, leadership, and human relations’ skills required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and general computer skills required. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Strong Project Management skills required. Basic knowledge of APImaging, CCTM, Byers, TRIS, OAS, and DOJM systems preferred.
