The Manager, Nuclear Oversight reporting to the Senior Vice President & Chief Nuclear Officer is responsible to develop and direct the overall Nuclear Division Quality Assurance Program; implement Ameren policies and regulatory requirements and insure appropriate actions are taken within this scope of responsibility and authority, as well as maintaining a quality assurance program for operational activities that is in full compliance with 10CFR50, Appendix B.

About The Position

The Manager, Nuclear Oversight reporting to the Senior Vice President & Chief Nuclear Officer is responsible to develop and direct the overall Nuclear Division Quality Assurance Program; implement Ameren policies and regulatory requirements and insure appropriate actions are taken within this scope of responsibility and authority, as well as maintaining a quality assurance program for operational activities that is in full compliance with 10CFR50, Appendix B.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and direct the overall Nuclear Division Quality Assurance Program; implement Ameren Missouri policies and regulatory requirements and ensure that appropriate actions are taken within this scope of responsibility and authority.

  • Maintain a quality assurance program for operational activities that is in full compliance with 10CFR50, Appendix B.

  • Develop and implement programs required to assure that managerial and administrative controls necessary to achieve compliance with regulatory requirements and commitments are effectively established and executed.

  • Direct a comprehensive system of audits, surveillances, reviews and assessments to evaluate performance and verify compliance of operational activities with the quality assurance program, plant license, regulatory commitments and company requirements.

  • Develop and maintain mechanisms for communicating the effectiveness of operational activities to management.

  • Maintain a personnel development program for training and certification of auditors, lead auditors Quality Control Inspectors and continued enhancement of technical, quality and management skills necessary for effective assessments and audits.

  • Assure supplier evaluations and audits are performed in accordance with regulatory and industry requirements and the qualified suppliers’ list is maintained.

  • Approve new and revised NOS Department procedures for implementation.

  • Authorize stop work actions for unsatisfactory repair, maintenance or refueling activities and recommended stop work actions of other plant activities affecting continuation of plant operation.

  • Provide technical direction and administrative guidance to the NOS staff.

  • Escalate issues requiring additional management addition to correct

  • Maintain the Quality Control Inspection Program.

  • Assume Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties in accordance with Callaway Energy Center Radiological Emergency Response Plan (RERP) including responding to assigned ERO facilities within the required RERP response time.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science from an accredited institution required. Eight or more years in responsible positions related to power generation, including three or more years nuclear power plant experience required. One or more years of experience in quality assurance program implementation is required. Three or more years of supervisory, large project and/or team leadership experience required. (Reference ANSI/ANS 3.1 – 1978 Section 4.2.4 and 4.4.5)

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Proficiency with engineering and plant operations fundamentals and thorough knowledge of nuclear power plant requirements required. Proven ability to develop and implement effective programs required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs required. Security screening required for Callaway Energy Center access.

Working Conditions

The Manager, Nuclear Oversight works a standard day shift in an office/plant environment. Call-outs and working rotating or Outage schedules may be required to support plant operations.
