We are seeking a self-directed, highly motivated and hard-working individual with an interest in a career focused in Data Analytics and Business Intelligence for an Internship position. This position is open to any rising Junior or Senior in a college/university setting that is interested in gaining hands-on IT experience. This paid internship will run during the academic year (timeframe is flexible depending upon the college schedule) and will provide you with a unique insight into the Information Technology Department. The intern will actively contribute to meaningful projects, collaborate with IT team members, work closely with a mentor on the team and work with senior leadership to learn valuable skills.
The perfect candidate will have excellent customer service skills and a passion for data, technology, collaboration and creative problem solving. The candidate should expect to serve as a team player and work to generate new ideas for the department.
In this role you will w ork with the IT Applications group to:
Facilitate best-practice use of data management tools and to coordinate the creation and management of data queries.
Analyze large, noisy datasets and identify meaningful patters that provide actionable results.
Create informative visualizations that intuitively display large amounts of data and/or complex relationshps.
Collaborate with business leaders, end users, IT staff, and other stakeholders to integrate data management applications with existing systems.
Apply quality assurance best practices for data analysis services across the organization.
Collaborate with IT staff to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
Skills & Requirements Here are a few skills you MUST have to be considered this position:
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Working towards a degree with a major in Data Science, Data Analytics and Visualization, Computer Science, Information Technology or Management Information Systems.
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) proficiency.
Strong communication skills and a passion for customer service.
Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Knowledge of data models, structures, theories, principles, and practices
Familiarity with data preparation, processing, classification, and forecasting.
Familiarity with manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources.
Ability to function in a hybrid environment working remote as well as in the office utilizing standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, copier, telephone, etc.
Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. (file boxes, computer, printer).
Travel Required on occasion
