About The Position
The Senior Corporate Modeling Specialist plays a key role in the ongoing development and execution of Ameren’s financial plan. The Senior Specialist will serve as the Corporate Modeling team’s expert on an Ameren business segment. Working collaboratively with segment financial leaders, the specialist will provide routine reports and key insights on financial matters and have a robust understanding of the relevant regulatory frameworks. The specialist will also be responsible for performing a variety of forecasting and analytical activities, updating and coding the Corporate Model, supporting M&A activities and developing presentations for senior management and credit rating agencies.
Key responsibilities include:
Leads development of Ameren's financial forecast and annual budget for primary business segment
Designs and builds financial models for Ameren’s earnings forecast and financial plan, including models used to evaluate various financial and regulatory alternatives
Lead financial analysis and provides critical insights related to legislative and regulatory strategies
Completes major model updates and changes to structure and code with proficiency
Independently initiates project ideas and designs models to analyze them
Prepares forecasts, analysis, and presentations used for discussion with senior leadership, Board of Directors, investors and credit rating agencies
Assists in the development and maintenance of all documentation and work papers related to the financial forecast and corporate model
Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with employees in wide-range of departments that provide input to the corporate model
Promotes business acumen across the company and may help develop or lead training
Mentors other members of the corporate modeling group
Viewed as a leader and key resource within the Ameren financial community
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University required. An advanced degree or certification (e.g., MBA, CFA, CPA) is preferred. Five or more years of professional level experience in budgeting, accounting, forecasting or financial analysis required. Experience with financial modeling systems is preferred.
In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
Strong analytical skills, including the ability to identify, analyze and research operational and financial issues
Ability to draw insights from complex analysis and communicate them in an understandable way.
Strong oral communication and writing skills – must be able to effectively interact with management and business line personnel, and demonstrate a strong customer service orientation
Proficient at use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; and the following Ameren competencies: Think Customer, Inspire and Engage, Foster Innovation, Drive Results, Champion Learning, Build Trust, and Be Strategic.
Willingness to learn additional specialized systems
