About The Position
The Engineer serves as a subject matter expert in distribution automation/smart grid technology, customer substation and switchgear operation, customer generation equipment, power quality and other distribution operations related issues.
Key responsibilities include:
Power Quality troubleshooting/investigations resulting from customer or division requests. This includes the installation and maintenance of power quality monitoring equipment on customer and company premises, the analysis of data, and the recommendation of solutions to problems identified.
Review plans for customer substation, switchgear, and generator installations in relation to company requirements in order to ensure their proper operation and protection of the Ameren Missouri distribution system. Perform operational checks on this equipment in cooperation with the divisions, external customers, and their agents.
Provide technical support for the inspection and maintenance of the downtown St. Louis network system and other medium voltage distribution equipment in the Metropolitan area.
Act as an engineering resource to Ameren Missouri personnel and customers on matters related to distribution automation/smart grid technology, power quality, customer substations, customer-owned generation and other operating concerns.
Represent the company in external industry organizations such as IEEE, NEETRAC, IEC, EBMI, and IAEI.
Provide supervisory support for the Distribution Operating Department.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable engineering discipline from an accredited college or university required. Professional Engineer registration preferred. Two or more years' experience working with distribution systems, substations, or other relevant experience preferred.
In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
Must possess good organization, prioritization, decision making, communication, and human relations skills. Subject to call out during sever weather events and other operating emergencies. Travel requiring use of personal vehicle.
