Supply Chain Demand Planning Specialist (ZA5310)

About The Position

The Demand Planning Specialist position is responsible for collaborating with planning organizations across Ameren to develop demand plans for the Supply Chain organization. The Specialist ensures that Business Partners have the materials and services they need by taking plans and forecasts and developing forecasts for their demand. The Specialist must have a keen understanding of Business Partner needs and priorities and the marketplace of options to meet these needs. The position will analyze, prepare, and report long term forecasts to Supply Chain Leadership. The Demand Planning Specialist should have skills and expertise in the following areas:

Key responsibilities include:

  • Consolidate demand plans (services and material needs) from Business Partners for key project and business needs

  • Support, collaborate, and influence Ameren functions to support efforts to optimize the Supply Chain organization to support the delivery of $16B in Ameren sourceable CapEx spend over the next 5 years.

  • Proactively work with stakeholders in Ameren Missouri, Ameren Illinois, Ameren Transmission and Business & Corporate Services to develop rolling 5 year forecasting models and provide periodic updates to those models based on new inputs from the segments.

  • Work with Supply Chain and Business Partner stakeholders to develop a recommendation and execute a planning process to get increased visibility of the sourcing and inventory needs.

  • Work with Supply Chain stakeholders to assist in the development of resource, inventory, warehousing and sourcing plans to align with demand planning forecasts.

  • Analyze business intelligence information using a variety of internal Ameren systems financial systems and planning systems (e.g., OPPM and Copperleaf).

  • Prepare ad-hoc analysis and investigate issues brought forth by Supply Chain leadership.Share thoughts and insights with Supply Chain Leadership.

  • Drive consensus for operational demand forecasts by facilitating a collaborative planning process with Business Partners.


Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required, preferably in Engineering, Business, Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, or Digital. MBA or other related graduate degree preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred. Five or more years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, analysis or modeling, or business planning and experience working with cross-functional teams required.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Detailed understanding of capital planning, corporate finance, forecasting, investment concepts, practices and methods. Strong analytical, problem solving, decision-making, strategic thinking, and planning skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Advanced financial, statistical, and quantitative modeling skills. Ability to take initiative, collaborate and lead. Strong business acumen and ability to see the big picture. Excellent communication (written/verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills to effectively interface with and influence internal/external contacts. Project and vendor management skills preferred. Advanced proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel.
