Job Description

Position Summary

Manages all energy efficiency initiatives and personnel including design and development of programs. Leads and implements Washington Gas's energy efficiency programs.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Manages, develops, implements, tracks and evaluates energy efficiency (EE) programs for Washington Gas customers; makes recommendations on best practice EE program policies and regulatory trends

• Supports strategy for new business opportunities related to natural gas, energy efficiency, sustainability products and services, and clean technology

• Approves and advises on EE program marketing, communication and outreach; oversees changes, updates and improvements to corporate website

• Manages EE program budgets, timelines and deliverables of vendors and consultants

• Supports the development of a corporate social responsibility report and public registry reporting.

• Manages internal EE tracking and external reporting initiatives, including:

o Selecting and maintaining key systems;

o Implementing tracking software; and

o Supervising deliverables and commitments from matrixed sustainability organization and sustainability program staff to achieve corporate

• sustainability goals

• Evaluates leading industry clean technology and sustainability practices to reduce company carbon emissions

• Represents Washington Gas as energy efficiency and sustainability expert on regional task forces, at stakeholder events and on industry conference panels

• Addresses Commission inquiries and provides regulatory analyses and testimony associated with energy efficiency programs

• Manages Energy Efficiency staff, including hiring, evaluating, training, performance management, compensating, motivating, coaching, and developing processes and procedures to ensure the achievement of goals

• Manages development of new Energy Efficiency programs that will have a direct impact on energy savings

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

• Bachelor's Degree business, engineering, economics, environmental policy or related field

• 7+ Years work experience and 2 years of supervisory experience related to or in combination of the following:

  • Sustainability and energy efficiency projects, programs and policy;

  • Utility regulatory process and procedures

  • The natural gas and/or energy industry

• Successful experience working in a highly-matrix-ed organization

• LEED certification, carbon management, and/or carbon accounting experience

• Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with business partners, stakeholders, supervisors, subordinates, and peers

• Ability to effectively evaluate multiple scenarios and to implement effective solutions to broadly defined business problems

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in business, engineering, economics, environmental policy or related field

• Demonstrated project management experience; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
