Eversource Energy Senior Engineer, LNG Compliance in Southborough, Massachusetts

The Senior Engineer, LNG Compliance provides analytical, policy and business support to the LNG Compliance Supervisor, carrying out assignments that require extensive experience in the compliance requirements associated with the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of LNG and LPG facilities. The Senior Engineer supports the Supervisor in the ownership and maintenance of the regulatory compliance programs, ensures strategies, procedures, and assurance processes are in place to ensures compliance with Eversource, local, state, and federal requirements.

The Senior Engineer must master the regulatory aspects of the Eversource LNG Facilities regarding security, safety, training, maintenance, operations, and construction in accordance with 49 CFR Part 192, 193 and applicable NFPA standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Support the development and review of policies, procedures, projects, and programs to ensure that they fit the Company’s objectives and conform to company and industry standards and regulations of federal, state, and local authorities.

  • Mentors junior staff, reviews their work, provides direction or assistance to drive standardization and success in theirassignments.

  • Reviews and interprets applicable federal, state, and local regulations and industry codes. Ensures all work complies with applicable codes.

  • Conducts regular risk assessments, identifying potential vulnerabilities, and develops strategies to mitigate risks across the LNG organization.

  • Utilizes expertise to effectively identify and manage risks, ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards, and maintain a strong governance framework.
  • Monitors and assess changes in regulatory requirements and industry standards and ensures timely updates to the LNG compliance program.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate risk management and compliance controls into business processes, applications, and systems.
  • Conducts compliance audits, assessments, and gap analyses to identify areas of improvement, developing remediation plans and ensuring they’re followed through.
  • Coordinates and manages third-party vendors who perform assessments, audits, certifications, or provide consulting and technical expertise.
  • Provide guidance and support to stakeholders regarding risk management, compliance requirements, technical clarification, interpretation of code and other complex information.
  • Stays updated with emerging trends and proactively recommends improvements to enhance the effectiveness of the compliance program.
  • Leads in the collection of compliance documents from LNG Plant Supervisors and other stakeholders to satisfy regulatory filing requirements and information requests.
  • Researches, analyzes, and recommends ways to improve compliance processes and procedures.
  • Reviews external state and federal agency audit findings and provides recommendations to internal procedures and/or compliance manuals.
  • Inspects/audits programs, policies, and work practices for compliance to company requirements, best practices, and relevant laws and regulations. Provides summary reports of findings and recommended corrective actions whenever deficiencies are identified.
  • Gathers and presents lessons learned, industry experience, and other gained knowledge to ensure the LNG department continues to improve safety, reliability, and compliance.
  • Assists in gas distribution system restoration efforts during emergencies.

Qualifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skills:

  • Demonstrated excellence in leadership, coordination, and task management.
  • Strong ability to read and understand drawings and complex plant processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations, industry code and standards.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer applications systems.

  • Ability to interface with regulatory agencies, coordinate regulatory inspections, coordinate follow-up as required.
  • Ability to multi-task and function in a highly dynamic atmosphere. Must act with purpose and a sense of urgency.
  • This is a safety sensitive position and subject to random drug testing.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering

Experience: Eight (8) plus years of directly related experience in engineering, operations, law, or compliance.

Licenses & Certification: Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $118690 to $131,880.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed both in an office environment and the field. Related duties require sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, ladders, and tall structures. Work may take place outdoors during inclement weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • Job will require regular travel to facilities in CT and MA. Some limited travel outside of these states may be needed to visit vendors, regulatory agencies, or participate in conferences.
  • Must be available to work emergency storm assignment as required.
  • Must have the ability to successfully complete company sponsored training which include plant operations, firefighting, security, HAZMAT, first aid, OSHA and other programs.
