Eversource Energy Lead Engineer, LNG in Southborough, Massachusetts

(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHmr45H8xZE)The Lead Engineer is responsible for the execution of technical projects, supervision of staff engineers, development of engineering standards, multi-year planning, for the technical support of LNG and LPG facilities. In addition, this position supports the LNG Operations group by assigning resources as necessary to support the evaluation of system failures, support the review of critical assets, and development of technical procedures. Responsible for ensuring that the Eversource LNG and LPG facilities are designed to high quality standards that provide safe and reliable service. This position is responsible for supervising, assigning, prioritizing, and directing the work performed by other Engineers and staff.
Essential Functions:
- Supervises, coaches, and develops engineers; approves time sheets and conducts performance reviews, assigns and prioritizes work performed by direct reports.
- Responsible for the cost and performance of projects.
- Responsible for the development, justification and approval of project approval documents.
- Ensures that the design and specification of additions, modifications and replacements to equipment, and the preparation of permit applications, are completed accurately and on time.
- Responsible for the development of preliminary engineering designs and the details, as necessary.
- Collaborates with other Engineers within the group and greater Gas Business to ensure consistency and teamwork.
- Reviews purchase requisitions, and invoices related to departmental activity. Monitors and provides reports on project and departmental budgets. Provides variances from scheduled and cost targets as required.
- Provides technical support and direction to operating areas relative to equipment performance, engineering guidelines, and operating decisions during normal and emergency situations.
- Accountable for root-cause analysis, development and implementation of corrective actions.
- Responsible for the evaluation and selection of technology and equipment for the facilities.
- Responsible for the development of standards and procedures for design, operation and maintenance.
- Assumes the role of the Manager as required.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated excellence in project leadership, coordination, and budget management tasks.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention-to-detail.
- Ability to understand thermodynamics and cryogenic fundamentals as they relate to LNG and LPG facilities..
- Extensive knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations and industry codes.
- Self-motivated and acts independently with minimum oversight.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications abilities.
- Working knowledge of standard office computer software (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Education:
- Requires a BS Engineering or BS Engineering Technology
Experience :
- Ten years experience in engineering and project management within the utility or industrial industry.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Ability to become Operator Qualified under the DOT Program
- Valid Driver’s license is required
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
Working Conditions:
- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
- This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position. As an employee in this position the individual shall be subject to random drug testing. A positive drug test will result in disciplinary action.
