National Grid Anticipated Pipe Handler - Cape Cod in South Yarmouth, Massachusetts
Pay rate: $25.63 per hour
Job Purpose
National Grid is seeking Pipe Handlers in the South Yarmouth area. We are a major electricity and gas delivery company with one of the largest electricity transmission and distribution systems in the Northeast. The ideal candidate for this position will possess a good driving record and be focused on customer, personal and coworker safety. Pipe Handlers work within the natural gas side of the operation to provide timely and quality service to our customers while maintaining high customer service.
Key Accountabilities
As a Pipe Handler you will perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:
Perform manual labor, including hand excavation, back-filling, handling of pipe, fittings, and materials and does other laboring work as required.
Operate paving breaker and rock drills and assist in operating tapping and stoppering equipment, heating and joining equipment for plastic pipe, and other equipment so assigned.
Successfully complete training of higher classification duties and obtain proper licenses.
Please note that to better represent the communities we serve, applicants must either currently live in or be able to relocate to within 30 miles of South Yarmouth, MA.
Qualifications
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have good mechanical aptitude and ability, high degree of dependability, and capable of exercising good judgment.
Must pass Company physical and qualifying tests.
Must have Massachusetts Drivers License and be in good physical condition.

Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company’s testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.
Many of the terms and conditions of employment for this position are defined by a collective bargaining agreement that the Company has with a local union. Newly hired employees are bound by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement as well as other agreements between the Company and the local union.
