Job Summary

This opportunity is open to current PSEG employees only.

The successful candidate will work as an Engineer in the Outside Plant (OP) Engineering & Design Group within the Construction & Maintenance organization of the Electric T&D – Projects & Construction line of business utilizing a broad knowledge of business and engineering principles and practices.

Job Responsibilities

The job responsibilities include the following:

• Manage and process the Project drawings and close out documents and submittals according to PSE&G procedure and guidelines

• Track on-going projects and measure progress of the projects

• Collaborate with Project Engineers with any other related McLaren or documentation support

• Coordinate with Project Engineers in order for the timely submission of drawings and documents

• Ensure that all drawings and documents for assigned projects are received and processed in McLaren on time without delays

• Distribute a look ahead report for all of the upcoming documentation due dates and overdue items to the Project Engineers on a monthly basis

• Assist with the development and implementation of document control processes, procedures, specifications and standards

• Communicate all new or updated Document Controls processes, procedures, specifications and standards to relevant personnel

• Support employees, outside vendors, consultants and contractors, as needed and directed

• Help to develop and track budget effectiveness / efficiency involving all document controls programs (systems, creation for all projects - all vendors / contractors, IT costs, etc.)

• Serve as a liaison to facilitate communication with contractors, suppliers and internal company stakeholders, as needed to drive the seamless running of the projects

• Track detailed project target dates and consult with all team members to ensure they are able to meet all milestones while maintaining the budget

• Coordinate and procure major Transmission Equipment Materials (UG Cable, Transmission Structures, and Hardware Assemblies etc.)

As an employee of PSE&G, you should be aware that during Strom/Outage restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions different from normal operations and your regular work schedule. You may also be required to work in an alternate location. Must be willing to work OT as required and perform on-call / emergency replacement work and assist during system emergency situations.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

• B.S. Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering

• Minimum of 2 years of electrical utility, power system infrastructure design, substation or outside plant electric distribution and/or transmission systems

• Familiar with both Overhead (OH) and Underground (UG) transmission line design

• Familiar with transmission system operation and construction

• Familiar with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

• Proficient in Mircostation or AutoCAD

• Clear and concise writing and verbal communications skills

• As the job requires driving to Company locations and off-site assignments and events, must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driving history

Preferred / Desired Skills:

• Advanced Technical or Engineering Degree

• Advanced technical training or EIT License

• Possess a working knowledge of utility best practices, ASME, NESC, and ASCE standards

• Advanced experience / knowledge of documentation systems such as McLaren, ProjectWise, ECM, etc.

• Familiar with company or other industry engineering and design standards

• Electric Utility or plant experience and knowledge of outside plant electric transmission systems, which includes design and cost estimate.
